Good natured idiocy.

More of the aforementioned.

Enough already!

____

The Name Of The Rose, 1986, Sean Connery, Christian Slater, F. Murray Abraham, Elya Baskin

Not as good as it looks but there is a very fine naked female scene.

2½ stars out of 5

____

National Lampoon's Vacation, 1983, Chevy Chase, Beverly D'Angelo, Anthony Michael Hall, Dana Barron, Christie Brinkley, John Candy

The first and most peoples' favorite of the series, but not mine.  Still funny though.

3 stars out of 5

>>>>

National Lampoon's European Vacation, 1985, Chevy Chase, Beverly D'Angelo, Dana Hill, Jason Lively, Eric Idle

My personal favorite.  Nudity, drunken brawls, and all sorts of wacky hijinx afflicts the Griswald family.

3½ stars out of 5

>>>>

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, 1989, Chevy Chase, Beverly D'Angelo, Randy Quail, Diane Ladd

So stupid it isn't worth commenting on.

1 star out of 5

____

The Natural, 1984, Robert Redford, Robert Duvall, Glenn Close, Kim Basinger, Wilford Brimley

For the most part boring because it is, and for the other part unrealistic because Robert Redford just isn't a baseball player.

2 stars out of 5

____

Natural Born Killers, 1994, Woody Harrelson, Juliette Lewis, Robert Downey Jr., Tommy Lee Jones

For those of you who thought this was a confusing, garbled, overdone mess (like me), there is a 3 hour director's cut version in stores.

1 star out of 5

____

Near Dark, 1987, Adrian Pasdar, Jenny Wright, Tim Thomerson, Jenette Goldstein, Lance Henriksen, Bill Paxton

Fantastic little vampire film. Worth watching for those who like something different.

4 stars out of 5

____

Necessary Roughness, 1991, Scott Bakula, Robert Loggia, Sinbad, Kathy Ireland, Harley Jane Kozak, Jason Bateman

This movie has a few surprises considering the contrived plot.  Worth watching on a slow TV night.

3 stars out of 5

____

The Negotiator, 1998, Samuel L. Jackson, Kevin Spacey

For some reason, Samuel L. Jackson's one-dimensional acting skills never get tiresome.  As for the movie, it isn't tiresome either.

4 stars out of 5

____

Neighbors, 1991, John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Cathy Moriarty, Kathryn Walker

Sometimes slow, but at other times hilarious.  It neither disappoints nor satisfies.

3 stars out of 5

____

The Net, 1995, Sandra Bullock, Jeremy Northam, Dennis Miller, Diane Baker

Better than you think, but it is only PG-13.

3 stars out of 5

____

Never Cry Wolf, 1983, Charles Martin Smith, Brian Dennehy

One of those rare films that can be savored by young and old.

4½ stars out of 5

____

The Neverending Story, 1984, Barret Oliver, Noah Hathaway

Wolfgang Peterson directed this charming little ditty. Great stuff for the kids.  Adults will wish they were kids again.

4 stars out of 5

>>>>

The Neverending Story II, 1991, Jonathan Brandis, Kenny Morrison

Any movie with Jonathan Brandis in it is bound to be lacking in many respects.

2 stars out of 5

____

New York Stories, 1989, Woody Allen, Rosanna Arquette, Mia Farrow, Nick Nolte, Talia Shire, Giancarlo Giannini

A series of stories directed by Woody Allen, Francis Ford Coppola, and Martin Scorsese. Allen's is the most entertaining of the three.  The movie itself is above par.

3 stars out of 5

____

Night And The City, 1992, Robert DeNiro, Jessica Lange, Cliff Gorman, Alan King, Jack Warden, Eli Wallach

Average film made slightly above average by a strong cast.

3 stars out of 5

____

Night Breed, 1989, Craig Sheffer, David Cronenberg, Charles Haid

A strong beginning gives way to a hokie middle and end and makes this yet another Clive Barker mess.

1½ stars out of 5

____

A Night In The Life Of Jimmy Reardon, 1988, River Phoenix, Ione Skye, Meredith Salenger

Not too bad but no naked chicks in spite of the promising storyline.

2 stars out of 5

____

Night Of The Comet, 1984, Geoffrey Lewis, Mary Woronov, Catherine Mary Stewart

This movie may very well suck if I watched it now, but I liked it in 1984.

3½ stars out of 5

____

Night Of The Living Dead, 1968, Duane Jones, Judith O'Dea, Keith Wayne

The original classic.  Still gory and frightening after all this time.

4 stars out of 5

>>>>

Night Of The Living Dead, 1990, Tony Todd

Remake of the original classic.  Same story, same characters, but in color and with more blood.

4 stars out of 5

>>>>

Dawn Of The Dead, 1979, David Emge, Ken Foree, Scott Reiniger, Tom Savini

Far surpasses the original. Four individuals get holed up in a shopping mall and battle zombies to the death.  One of my all time favorites.

5 stars out of 5

>>>>

Day Of The Dead, 1985, Lori Cardille, Terry Alexander, Joe Pilato, Richard Liberty

Dumb follow-up to the superior Dawn Of The Dead succeeds only in being more disgusting than its predecessor.

1½ stars out of 5

____

The Night Porter, 1974, Dick Bogarde, Charlotte Rampling

One of the worst films I've seen. It involves a former Nazi concentration camp guard and his fling with the Jewish woman he used to molest.  Even the sex scenes suck.

0 stars out of 5

____

Nighthawks, 1981, Sylvester Stallone, Billy Dee Williams, Rutger Hauer

This one seems to be on cable at least once a month and it's the only movie I'll stop to watch every time. Sly and Lando go after bad guy Rutger Hauer.

5 stars out of 5

____

A Nightmare On Elm Street, 1985, Robert Englund, John Saxon, Ronee Blakley, Heather Langenkamp

This movie still freaks me out and makes me want to stay awake.

4½ stars out of 5

>>>>

A Nightmare On Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge, 1985, Mark Patton, Kim Myers, Clu Gulager

Awful sequel.

1 star out of 5

>>>>

A Nightmare On Elm Street 3:  The Dream Warriors, Robert Englund, Heather Langenkamp, Patricia Arquette

Better, but the group of so-called "Dream Warriors" is laughable.

2½ stars out of 5

>>>>

A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master, 1988, Robert Englund, Lisa Wilcox

More of the same.

3 stars out of 5

____

9½ Weeks, 1986, Mickey Rourke, Kim Basinger

Kim Basinger naked.  What was this movie about again?

2 stars out of 5

____

Nine To Five, 1980, Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Dolly Parton, Dabney Coleman

A very unmanly film involving female empowerment.

no rating necessary

____

1900, Robert DeNiro, Gérard Depardieu, Donald Sutherland, Dominique Sanda, Burt Lancaster

Four hour film suffers from bad dubbing, but is otherwise a good story about two lifelong friends.

3 stars out of 5

____

1984, 1984, John Hurt, Richard Burton, Suzanna Hamilton

So much like the book it's scary.

3½ stars out of 5

____

Nixon, 1995, Anthony Hopkins, Joan Allen, Powers Boothe, Ed Harris, Bob Hoskins, David Hyde Pierce

As with most Oliver Stone films, the acting is fantastic and the script is an embellishment. If this film had been based on a fictional leader, then I doubt I would have cared.  Then again, Stone would never have made any money that way.

2 stars out of 5

____

No Escape, 1994, Ray Liotta, Lance Henriksen, Stuart Wilson, Kevin Dillon, Ernie Hudson

Better than average science fiction film about my favorite idea: a remote island being used as a prison.

3½ stars out of 5

____

Nobody's Fool, 1994, Paul Newman, Jessica Tandy, Bruce Willis, Melanie Griffith

Paul Newman as a man trying to find a balance between growing old and growing senile. Not a bad film to watch when the only football game on is Prairie View A&M versus Davidson College.

3½ stars out of 5

____

Norma Rae, 1979, Sally Field, Ron Leibman, Pat Hingle, Beau Bridges

How can any self-respecting American make a film about a woman unionizer?  Shame.  The story is gay, but Sally Field is good.

3 stars out of 5

____

Not Without My Daughter, 1991, Sally Field, Alfred Molina

Another Sally Field feminist's dream movie.  However, I'll take a hard-nosed female like Sally Field over some dirty kidnapping Iranian scum any day.

3 stars out of 5

____

Nothing But Trouble, 1991, Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, John Candy, Demi Moore

Trivia question: When was the last time any of the above have appeared in a good movie?

2 stars out of 5

____

Nothing In Common, 1986, Tom Hanks, Jackie Gleason

Great film for any man who has ever had a dad.

4 stars out of 5

____

O

____

O Brother, Where Art Thou?, 2000, George Clooney, John Turturro, Tim Blake Nelson, Holly Hunter

A thoroughly enjoyable first half but only a moderately enjoyable second half.  Good performances all around and some hearty laughs as well.

3½ stars out of 5

____

Office Space, 1999, Jennifer Aniston, Ron Livingston, Gary Cole, Stephen Root, Alexandra Wentworth

A must-see for cubicle dwellers and Dilbert worshippers.  This isn't brain candy by any means, but it is definitely true-to-life in more ways than one.

3½ stars out of 5

____

An Officer And A Gentleman, 1982, Richard Gere, Debra Winger, Lou Gossett Jr., David Keith

Somehow, Richard Gere manages to succeed in his role as a military stud.  The movie succeeds as well.

4½ stars out of 5

____

The Offspring, 1986, Vincent Price, Clu Gulager, Terry Kiser

A series of horror stories, mostly insipid but with some decent parts.

2 stars out of 5

____

Oliver, 1968, Oliver Reed, Hugh Griffith, Mark Lester, Shani Wallis

Incredibly annoying and long musical based on the Charles Dickens classic Oliver Twist.

2 stars out of 5

____

The Omega Man, 1971, Charlton Heston, Anthony Zerbe, Rosalind Cash

Goofy but cool 70s sci-fi classic is the armageddon film of armegeddon films. Plus Charlton sprays much hot lead.

4 stars out of 5

____

The Omen, 1976, Gregory Peck, Lee Remick, Billie Whitelaw, David Warner

A horror classic. Satan has a kid.

4 stars out of 5

>>>>

Damien: Omen II, 1978, William Holden, Lee Grant, Lew Ayres, Sylvia Sidney

Great sequel picks up where the first one left off as Damien goes ballistic with his new adoptive family.

4 stars out of 5

____

On Golden Pond, 1981, Henry Fonda, Katherine Hepburn, Hanoi Jane

This movie's most redeeming quality isn't that it won an Oscar for best picture, actor, and actress. It's best quality is that it made the phrase "sucking face" forever a part of the everyday vocabulary.

5 stars out of 5

____

Once Upon A Time In America, 1984, Robert DeNiro, James Woods, Elizabeth McGovern, Tuesday Weld

Not a standard mob movie, but Sergio Leone has made yet another solid epic.

4 stars out of 5

____

One Day In September, 1999, documentary

Superb documentary that covers the terror of the 1972 Munich Olympic games. A must see.

5 stars out of 5

____

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, 1975, Jack Nicholson, Louise Fletcher, Danny DeVito, Christopher Lloyd

Who could've known that the lives of a bunch of nutcases were enjoyable in every possible way.

5 stars out of 5

____

Only The Lonely, 1991, John Candy, Maureen O'Hara, Ally Sheedy, Anthony Quinn, James Belushi

I think that this is what women call a "sweet" movie but I could be wrong.

3 stars out of 5

____

Operation Crossbow, 1965, George Peppard, Sophia Loren, Trevor Howard, John Mills, Richard Johnson

Top-notch war spy film with George Peppard sounding oddly American speaking German. Definitely a guy flick.

4 stars out of 5

____

Orgy Of The Dead, 1965, Criswell, Pat Barringer, William Bates

Dead Ed Wood film is nothing but a bunch of topless girls performing for Criswell in a graveyard.  Only one of the girls looks good.

1 star out of 5

____

Out For Justice, 1991, Steven Seagal, William Forsythe

Much like all the other Seagal films.  Lots of action and ass-kicking.

4 stars out of 5

____

Out Of Sight, 1998, George Clooney, Jennifer Lopez, Ving Rhames

Sharp and stylish.  Does that sounds like something a cheezy movie reviewer would say or what?  Too bad Jennifer Lopez doesn't bare her goods.

4 stars out of 5

____

Outbreak, 1995, Dustin Hoffman, René Russo, Morgan Freeman, Kevin Spacey, Donald Sutherland

Melodramatic BS.

2 stars out of 5

____

Outland, 1981, Sean Connery, Peter Boyle

One of the few solid late 70s and early 80s sci-fi films that is still credible today.

4 stars out of 5

____

The Outlaw Josey Wales, 1976, Clint Eastwood, Sondra Locke

My personal favorite Clint Eastwood film.  Clint is a Confederate soldier who's out to kill some Union baddies.

5 stars out of 5

____

The Outsiders, 1983, C. Thomas Howell, Matt Dillon, Ralph Macchio, Tom Cruise, Emilio Estevez

Movies like this not only make you want to read the book, but also make you realize why C. Thomas Howell's best role was in Far Out Man. In that Tommy Chong classic, Howell plays himself and spends most of his time onscreen trying to get people to remember who he once was.

1½ stars out of 5

____

Over The Top, 1987, Sylvester Stallone, Robert Loggia

Stallone!! Arm-wrestling!! I'm ashamed to say that I once paused while flipping channels to watch part of the end of this unmemorable cinematic trashterpiece.

½ star out of 5

____

P

____

Pacific Heights, 1990, Matthew Modine, Melanie Griffith, Michael Keaton, Beverly D'Angelo

Cool suspense flick about a nutjob who moves into the same house as a young couple completely unsolicited. He then starts to raise hell.

4 stars out of 5

____

The Package, 1989, Gene Hackman, Tommy Lee Jones, Joanna Cassidy, John Heard, Dennis Franz

Your average good Gene Hackman film.

3½ stars out of 5

____

Pale Rider, 1985, Clint Eastwood, Michael Moriarty, Carrie Snodgrass, Christopher Penn

Similar to High Plains Drifter but in many ways better, Clint returns to the Old West after doing dumb monkey movies.

4½ stars out of 5

____

Palmetto, 1998, Woody Harrelson, Elisabeth Shue, Gina Gershon, Chloe Sevigny, Michael Rapaport

Surprisingly decent film with an otherwise mediocre cast.  Unfortunately, Gina Gershon keeps her clothes on.

3 stars out of 5

____

Pandemonium, 1980, Carol Kane, Tom Smothers

Silly mock-slasher flick succeeds, but only partly.

3 stars out of 5

____

Parenthood, 1989, Steve Martin, Mary Steenburgen, Tom Hulce, Jason Robards Jr., Dianne Wiest, Rick Moranis

All-too-true film about life in general.

4½ stars out of 5

____

Passenger 57, 1992, Wesley Snipes, Bruce Payne, Tom Sizemore

OK film suffers from, of all things, being way too short.

2½ stars out of 5

____

Patton, 1970, George C. Scott, Karl Malden

Is it necessary to comment on a movie about World War II's greatest and manliest man? The only way this could've been screwed up is if Oliver Stone had written the screenplay.

5 stars out of 5

____

Payback, 1999, Mel Gibson, Maria Bello, James Coburn, David Paymer, William Devane

More understandable than the more artistic original Point Blank (which was originally recommended to me by somebody who actually reads this page), but disappointing only in that I had already seen the original.  For those who don't know the story though, it is good, violent fun.

4 stars out of 5

____

The Peacemaker, 1997, George Clooney, Nicole Kidman

Although Clooney is sorely miscast as a military operations stud and Nicole Kidman is hardly believable as whatever type of smart woman character she plays, this movie is loaded with action and a complete hoot for the most part.

4 stars out of 5

____

Peggy Sue Got Married, 1986, Kathleen Turner, Nicolas Cage, Barry Miller, Catharine Hicks, Joan Allen

Though it isn't any Back To The Future, this back in time trip still stands well by itself for the most part.

3 stars out of 5

____

The Pelican Brief, 1993, Julia Roberts, Denzel Washington, John Heard, Sam Shepard, John Lithgow

One of the more enjoyable John Grisham book-to-big screen adaptations.

4 stars out of 5

____

Penn & Teller Get Killed, 1989, Penn Jillette, Teller

Bizarre and funny film from the bizarre and funny magician duo. Good if you're looking for something different.

3½ stars out of 5

____

The People Vs. Larry Flynt, 1996, Woody Harrelson, Courtney Love, Edward Norton, Crispin Glover, Brett Harrelson

All about man's innate right to publish naked chicks.

4½ stars out of 5

____

Perfect, 1985, John Travolta, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jann Wenner, Marilu Henner

Unfortunately, this movie is anything but.

2 stars out of 5

____

A Perfect Murder, 1998, Michael Douglas, Gwyneth Paltrow, Viggo Mortensen

As with most Michael Douglas films, this is worth the rental, but nothing to talk about.

3½ stars out of 5

____

A Perfect World, 1993, Kevin Costner, Clint Eastwood, Laura Dern, T.J. Lowther

Great film that one might be more apt to enjoy after a second viewing.  I've always contended that this was Costner's only good acting job. Clint and Laura Dern are up for the task as usual. Another great success from Clint The Director.

4½ stars out of 5

____

Pet Sematary, 1989, Dale Midkiff, Fred Gwynne, Denise Crosby

Truly spooky film based on the Stephen King bestseller. One of the few horror flicks that's made me squirm.

4 stars out of 5

____

Peter Pan, 1953, animated

Made in Disney's original extended animation heyday, this one is yet another one for young and old alike.

4 stars out of 5

____

Phantasm, 1979, Michael Baldwin, Reggie Bannister, Bill Thornbury

Mostly boring and stupid until the end.

2 stars out of 5

____

Phenomenon, 1996, John Travolta, Kyra Sedgwick, Robert Duvall

Neither manly nor particularly offensive. Generally good.

4 stars out of 5

____

The Philadelphia Experiment, 1984, Michael Paré, Nancy Allen

Surprisingly watchable.

3 stars out of 5

____

The Piano, 1993, Harvey Keitel, Holly Hunter, Sam Neill

At first glance, one wonders why someone as inherently manly as Harvey Keitel would bother to be in a ridiculous artistic venture. But it all becomes clear when he gets to nail Holly Hunter.

2½ stars out of 5

____

Pink Floyd:  The Wall, 1982, Bob Geldof, Christine Hargreaves, Bob Hoskins

Without the great music and cool animation sequences, this film is nothing more than drivel.  Even with them, it ranks only slightly above Ganjasaurus Rex.

1½ stars out of 5

____

Plan 9 From Outer Space, 1959, Bela Lugosi, Gregory Walcott, Tom Keene

Often thought to be the worst film ever, this is truly a mess.  Bad in every possible way and unintentionally funny because of it. The shots of Bela Lugosi have nothing to do with the film, and in fact were taken before Lugosi's death with director Ed Wood's home movie camera. By the way, Lugosi died before shooting ever started for the film. The only must-see flop.

½ star out of 5

____

Planes, Trains And Automobiles, 1987, Steve Martin, John Candy, Michael McKean

Hilarious no matter how many times you see it.

4 stars out of 5

____

Planet Of The Apes, 1968, Charlton Heston, Roddy McDowall, Kim Hunter, Maurice Evans

Truly a classic.  Heston is his usual overacting self, and the ending is one to behold.

4 stars out of 5

____

Planet Of The Apes, 2001, Mark Wahlberg, Tim Roth, Helena Bonham Carter, Michael Clarke Duncan

An update on the classic is better in some ways, but lacks the punch of the original. Still good and campy though.

3½ stars out of 5

____

Platoon, 1986, Charlie Sheen, Tom Berrenger, WIllem Dafoe, Forest Whitaker

Give credit where credit is due.  It isn't perfect, but Oliver Stone actually comes up with a clear-cut winner here. Killing communists is only more fun in Full Metal Jacket.

4½ stars out of 5

____

The Player, 1992, Tim Robbins, Greta Scacchi, Fred Ward, Whoopi Goldberg

Ingenious satire of the Hollywood movie jet-set.

4½ stars out of 5

____

Point Blank, 1967, Lee Marvin, Angie Dickinson, Lloyd Bochner, Keenan Wynn, Carroll O'Connor

Highly original for its time, plus it has Lee Marvin.

4 stars out of 5

____

Point Break, 1991, Patrick Swayze, Keanu Reeves, Gary Busey, Lori Petty

Please. Four words and one acronym say it all: "I am an FBI agent." Stick to playing Ted, dude.

2 stars out of 5

____

Point Of No Return, 1993, Bridget Fonda, Gabriel Byrne, Dermot Mulroney, Harvey Kietel, Anne Bancroft

Good but the French original La Femme Nikita is actually better.

3 stars out of 5

____

Poison Ivy, 1992, Drew Barrymore, Tom Skerritt, Sara Gilbert, Cheryl Ladd

Surprisingly decent film about some lethal jailbait.

3 stars out of 5

>>>>

Poison Ivy 2: Lily, 1995, Alyssa Milano

The only reason I rented this was to see Alyssa Milano naked.  I don't really remember what it was about.

2 stars out of 5

____

Police Academy, 1984, Steve Guttenburg, George Gaynes, Kim Cattrall, Bubba Smith, Michael Winslow

The first of the neverending Tale From Hell. It tends to remind you occasionally that this series was actually funny at times.

3 stars out of 5

>>>>

Police Academy II: Their First Assignment, 1985, Steve Guttenberg, Bubba Smith, David Graf, Michael Winslow

Pretty much the same as the original except that this one is PG-13.

3 stars out of 5

>>>>

Police Academy III: Back In Training, 1986, Steve Guttenberg, Bubba Smith, David Graf, Michael Winslow

The last tolerable sequel.

2 stars out of 5

Police Academy 4: Citizens On Patrol, 1987, Steve Guttenberg, Bubba Smith, David Graf, Michael Winslow

Terrible.

½ star out of 5

>>>>

Police Academy 5 -- Assignment: Miami Beach, 1988, Bubba Smith, David Graf, Michael Winslow, Leslie Easterbrook

Even worse. Does the fact that Steve Guttenberg did not sign on for this film mean something?

¼ star out of 5

>>>>

Police Academy 6: City Under Siege, 1989, Bubba Smith, Kenneth Mars, David Graf, Michael Winslow

Falling fast.

0 stars out of 5

____

Poltergeist, 1982, Craig T. Nelson, JoBeth Williams, Beatrice Straight, Dominique Dunne

Guaranteed to make you want to move.

5 stars out of 5

>>>>

Poltergeist II:  The Other Side, 1986, Craig T. Nelson, JoBeth Williams, Heather O'Rourke

Rather unmemorable sequel.

2½ stars out of 5

>>>>

Poltergeist III, 1988, Tom Skerritt, Nancy Allen, Heather O'Rourke

This one is notable only because the little girl, Heather O'Rourke, died just after it was released.

1 star out of 5

____

Popeye, 1980, Robin Williams, Shelley Duvall, Ray Walston, Paul Smith, Paul Dooley, Richard Libertini

Who better than to play the comicstrip hero other than Robin Williams?  Who better than Shelley Duvall as Olive Oyl? Given what's there to work with, this movie couldn't be much better than it is.

4 stars out of 5

____

Porky's, 1981, Dan Monahan, Mark Herrier, Wyatt Knight, Roger Wilson, Kim Catrall, Scott Colomby

Exploitive nudity and wacky teen hijinx galore.  It's hard not to laugh.

3½ stars out of 5

>>>>

Porky's II:  The Next Day, 1983, Dan Monahan, Wyall Knight, Mark Herrier, Roger Wilson, Scott Colomby

Pretty stupid follow-up.

Porky's Revenge, 1985, Dan Monahan, Wyatt Knight, Tony Ganios, Mark Herrier, Scott Colomby

Really stupid follow-up.

1 star out of 5

The Poseidon Adventure, 1972, Gene Hackman, Ernest Borgnine, Shelley Winters, Roddy McDowall, Red Buttons

This stands on its own as my personal King Of All 70s Disaster Films.

4 stars out of 5

____

The Postman Always Rings Twice, Jack Nicholson, Jessica Lange

Even the sex is pretty stupid in this bomb.

1 star out of 5

____

The Power Of One, 1992, Stephen Dorff, Armin Mueller-Stahl, Morgan Freeman

Great flick about a boy's experiences growing up in South Africa around the time of WWII.

5 stars out of 5

____

Predator, 1987, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers, Elpidia Carrillo, Bill Duke

Unbelievable ending is compensated for by a script that is never boring.

4 stars out of 5

>>>>

Predator 2, 1990, Danny Glover, Gary Busey, Rubén Blades, Maria Conchita Alonso, Bill Paxton, Adam Baldwin

Alien-runs-amock-in-big-city-and-kills-everybody sequel.

2 stars out of 5

____

Presumed Innocent, 1990, Harrison Ford, Brian Dennehy, Bonnie Bedelia, Greta Scacchi, Raul Julia, Paul Winfield

Engrossing mystery which isn't fully resolved until the end.

4 stars out of 5

____

Pretty In Pink, 1986, Molly Ringwald, Harry Dean Stanton, Jon Cryer, Andrew McCarthey, Annie Potts

A fun film to watch, if only because it reminds you that Molly Ringwald was once a star and the 80s were a tacky fashion decade.

4 stars out of 5

____

Primal Fear, 1996, Richard Gere, Laura Linney, Edward Norton, John Mahoney, Frances McDormand

Well written and acted.  It's worth renting to see the performance that put Edward Norton on the map.

4 stars out of 5

____

The Princess Bride, 1987, Cary Elwes, Robin Wright, Mandy Patankin, Andre the Giant, Chris Sarandon

Funny and poignant.  Destined to be a classic.

5 stars out of 5

____

Prison, 1988, Lane Smith, Chelsea Field

Pretty typical un-scary horror film.

2 stars out of 5

____

Private Benjamin, 1980, Goldie Hawn, Elleen Brennan, Armand Assante

Amusing but unmanly film about women in the uniform of their country.

3 stars out of 5

____

Private Parts, 1997, Howard Stern, Mary McCormack, Robin Quivers, Fred Norris

Stern fans rejoice. Even non-fans will find this funny. The only bad thing about this film is that it seems to be way too short.

4½ stars out of 5

____

Prizzi's Honor, 1985, Jack Nicholson, Kathleen Turner, Robert Loggia, John Randolph

I need to see this again.  But from what I remember, it was above average.

3½ stars out of 5

____

The Professional, 1994, Jean Reno, Gary Oldman, Natalie Portman, Danny Aiello

Disturbingly French. Jean Reno is interesting, but Oldman steals the show as usual.

3 stars out of 5

____

The Program, 1993, James Caan, Omar Epps, Halle Berry, Craig Sheffer, Kristy Swanson

A movie that fails to meet up to its potential.  Many better football flicks have been done.

2½ stars out of 5

____

Project X, 1987, Matthew Broderick, Helen Hunt

Monkeys ceased to be amusing after Any Which Way You Can came out.

1 star out of 5

____

Prom Night, 1980, Jamie Lee Curtis, Leslie Nielsen, Casey Stevens

One of the better original slasher classics.

3 stars out of 5

____

Protocol, 1984, Goldie Hawn, Chris Sarandon, Richard Romanus, Cliff De Young, Gail Strickland

One of Goldie Hawn's better ventures, but is that really saying much?

2½ stars out of 5

____

Pulp Fiction, 1994, John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Uma Thurman, Bruce Willis, Harvey Kietel, Tim Roth

Modern Manly Masterpiece.

5 stars out of 5
