Powerful film about a couple of commie sympathizers who deserve to die.
4 stars out of 5

Falling Down, 1993, Michael Douglas, Robert Duvall, Barbara Hershey
The movie for the angry white male. Destined to be a cult classic 10 years from now.
4˝ stars out of 5
____
Fantasia, 1940, animated
This is still a masterpiece by every measurement possible. The fact that it is now nearly 60 years old darn near makes it one of the wonders of the world. Animation unparalleled.
5 stars out of 5
____
Far Out Man, 1990, Tommy Chong, Rae Dawn Chong, C. Thomas Howell
Stupid but amusing. Especially C. Thomas Howell playing himself.
2 stars out of 5

An undisputed classic, even if it isn't as funny as it was 15 years ago.
4 stars out of 5

Fatal Attraction, 1987, Michael Douglas, Glenn Close, Anne Archer
Sex, violence, and psychosis. What more could a little boy ask for?
4 stars out of 5

Enjoyable but inherently unmanly.
3˝ stars out of 5
____
Fear Of A Black Hat, 1994, Mark Christopher Lawrence, Larry B. Scott, Rusty Cundleff
It's no Spinal Tap, but in many ways it's actually funnier. Recommended.

____
Ferris Bueller's Day Off, 1986, Matthew Broderick, Alan Ruck, Mia Sara, Jeffrey Jones
What every teenage wishes he had done at least once in life.
4 stars out of 5
____
A Few Good Men, 1992, Tom Cruise, Demi Moore, Jack Nicholson, Kevin Bacon, Keifer Sutherland, J.T. Walsh
Good but overplayed movie. Tom Cruise is a bit too Hollywood for my tastes in this one, but Jack Nicholson more than makes up for it with his most memorable and manly role in ages.
4 stars out of 5
____
Field Of Dreams, 1989, Kevin Costner, Amy Madigan, James Earl Jones, Ray Liotta, Burt Lancaster
A must for all fans of baseball, even though you have to sit through scenes involving Kevin Costner.
4 stars out of 5
____
Fight Club, 1999, Brad Pitt, Edward Norton, Helena Bonham Carter, Meat Loaf
One would think that a movie about fighting in the basements of bars would reign surpreme. Well, it does when it's still about fighting in bars. However, the last half of the film delves into bizarre areas that only a crackhead screenwriter would think of. It ruins the entire movie.
2 stars out of 5
____
The Filth And The Fury, 2000, The Sex Pistols
Excellent documentary which tracks the history of the Sex Pistols. Worth seeing even if you aren't a fan of the band.
5 stars out of 5
____
Fire In The Sky, 1993, D.B. Sweeney, Robert Patrick, James Garner
Disappointing UFO flick.
1˝ stars out of 5
____
Fire Over England, 1936, Laurence Olivier, Vivien Leigh
Vivien Leigh plays a hard-assed Queen Elizabeth battling the Spanish Armada. A good film for British history buffs.

Firefox, 1982, Clint Eastwood, Freddie Jones
Subpar Eastwood film about swiping technology from commies.
2 stars out of 5
____
Firelight, 1998, Sophie Marceau, Stephen Dillane, Lia Williams
Well acted but incredibly boring and entirely too chick-afied. Only worth seeing for Sophie Marceau's boobs.

Respectable cast can't hide a cheesy plot.
2˝ stars out of 5
____
First Blood, 1982, Sylvester Stallone, Richard Crenna, Brian Dennehy, David Caruso

____
The First Power, 1990, Lou Diamond Phillips, Tracy Griffith
Mostly trash.
1˝ stars out of 5

First Strike, 1996, Jackie Chan
As with all his movies, it's good for the action, not the plot.
3˝ stars out of 5
____
A Fish Called Wanda, 1988, John Cleese, Kevin Kline, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Palin
Two Monty Python-ites get together for their funniest film since the troupe split up in the 80s.
4˝ stars out of 5

The Fisher King, 1991, Robin Williams, Jeff Bridges
Yet another strange but interesting story from Terry Gilliam.
4 stars out of 5
____
Flash Gordon, 1980, Sam Jones, Max Von Sydow, Timothy Dalton
My personal favorite superhero adaptation for the movies. This is the behemoth of cheesy movies.
4 stars out of 5

OK comedy about a druggie hippie played by (surprise!) Hopper, who's being escorted to justice by an FBI agent.
3 stars out of 5

Flesh Gordon, 1974, Jason Williams, Suzanne Fields, John Hoyt
Without a doubt the most hilarious soft-core porno I've ever seen.
3 stars out of 5
____
Fletch, 1985, Chevy Chase, Joe Don Baker, Tim Matheson
This is one of the few films with Chevy Chase that is actually funny. Really funny at times.
4 stars out of 5
>>>>
Fletch Lives, 1989, Chevy Chase, Cleavon Little, Hal Holbrooke, Julianne Phillips
Decent sequel.
3 stars out of 5

So-so thriller.
2˝ stars out of 5
____
Footloose, 1984, Kevin Bacon, John Lithgow, Lori Singer, Dianne Wiest, Christopher Penn
This god awful film is superior only to Dirty Dancing and a handful of other trashy films.
˝ star out of 5
____
For The Boys, 1991, Bette Midler, James Caan
The fact that anybody would be infatuated with Bette Midler is ridiculous.
2˝ stars out of 5
____
Forces Of Nature, 1999, Ben Affleck, Sandra Bullock
A tame adventure film wrapped up in a romantic comedy. It doesn't really succeed as either, but isn't a complete waste of time.
2˝ stars out of 5
____
Forrest Gump, 1994, Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Sally Field, Gary Sinese
Guaranteed to be a timeless classic.
5 stars out of 5

48 Hrs., 1982, Nick Nolte, Eddie Murphy
Sometimes one tends to forget just how funny Eddie Murphy can be.
4 stars out of 5
____
Frankie And Johnny, 1991, Al Pacino, Michelle Pfeiffer
Only Pacino could make a romance bearable.
3 stars out of 5
____
Freejack, 1992, Emilio Estevez, Mick Jagger, Anthony Hopkins, René Russo
Although this is a much better movie than I had anticipated, I'm still left wondering how on earth Anthony Hopkins got into this picture.
3 stars out of 5
____
The French Connection, 1971, Gene Hackman, Roy Scheider
Solid but overrated flick that is very outdated by today's standards.
3˝ stars out of 5
____
Frequency, 2000, Dennis Quaid, James Caviezel
The suspension of disbelief is a must in this one. Otherwise it's a fairly good flick about manly things like fatherhood and baseball.
3 stars out of 5
____
Friday The 13th, 1980, Betsy Palmer, Adrienne King, Kevin Bacon
One of the best ones in the series. The original mainstream slasher flick that spawned an infinite number of wannabes.
3˝ stars out of 5
>>>>
Friday The 13th, Part II, 1981, Amy Steel, John Furey, Adrienne King, Betsy Palmer
Very respectable sequel for such an unrespected series.
3 stars out of 5
>>>>
Friday The 13th, Part III, 1982, Dana Kimmel, Paul Kratka
More of the same except that this was originally a 3D movie in theaters.
2˝ stars out of 5
>>>>
Friday The 13th - The Final Chapter, 1984, Kimberly Beck, Corey Feldman
Easily the best of the series. Jason meets his match in Corey Feldman of all people.
4 stars out of 5
>>>>
Friday The 13th, Part V - A New Beginning, 1985, John Shepherd, Melanie Kinnaman, Richard Young
Easily the worst in the series.
˝ star out of 5
>>>>
Friday The 13th, Part VI: Jason Lives, 1986, Thom Mathews, Jennifer Cooke
Even though a few more sequels follow this one, I'm still trying to figure out how Jason survived the end of The Final Chapter. I mean, he was hacked to pieces! Go figure.
2 stars out of 5
>>>>
Friday The 13th, Part VII: The New Blood, 1988, Lar Park Lincoln, Terry Kiser
When all else fails, try telekinesis as a way of killing Jason.
1 star out of 5
>>>>
Friday The 13th, Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan, 1989, Jensen Daggett, Scott Reeves
The best since The Final Chapter, but only because this one is so ridiculous. The part where Jason literally punches the head of a guy is destined to live on in cinematic history long after this series has ended.
3 stars out of 5
>>>>
Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday, 1993, John D. LeMay, Kari Keegan
This movie probably would not be worth watching were it not for an ending that will knock your socks off. Rumor has it that New Line Cinema is currently working on a movie which will have both Jason and Freddy (from the Nightmare On Elm Street movies). Of course, I heard that rumor more than a year ago so the truth remains to be seen.
1˝ stars out of 5
____
The Fugitive, 1993, Harrison Ford, Tommy Lee Jones
Excellent action-adventure that has Harrison Ford on the run to prove his innocence. Jones is a hoot as well.
5 stars out of 5
>>>>
U.S. Marshals, 1998, Tommy Lee Jones, Wesley Snipes
Surprisingly strong sequel follows the same formula as the original and largely succeeds.
4 stars out of 5

Respectable film about some rogue werewolf cops.
2˝ stars out of 5
____
Full Metal Jacket, 1987, Matthew Modine, Adam Baldwin, R. Lee Ermey, Vincent D'Onofrio
Leave it to Stanley Kubrick to make the best film about Vietnam. One of my all time faves.
5 stars out of 5
____
The Full Monty, 1997, Robert Carlyle, Tom Wilkinson
Completely overrated film is somewhat charming, but just leaves you wondering if the English really do speak English.
2˝ stars out of 5
____
____
Galaxy Of Terror, 1981, Eddie Albert, Erin Moran, Ray Walston
This, Conan, and Alien are among the fine bunch of violent R-rated movies that I was fortunate enough to see in a theater as a kid. No wonder I turned out to be the real man that I am.
2˝ stars out of 5
____
Gallipoli, 1981, Mel Gibson, Mark Lee
An argument can be made that this is Mel Gibson's best movie. Next to Braveheart, of course.
5 stars out of 5
____
The Game, 1997, Michael Douglas, Sean Penn, Deborah Kara Unger
Dark film is not quite what you're expecting, even if you know what it's about.
3˝ stars out of 5
____
Gandhi, 1982, Ben Kingsley, Candice Bergen
Whoever would've thought that the little guy could do so much. Excellent.
5 stars out of 5
____
Ganjasaurus Rex, 1988, Paul Bassis, Dave Fresh
This was clearly written by some stoners who have a low threshold for humor when sober.
0 stars out of 5
____
Gas, Food, Lodging, 1994, Brooke Adams, Ione Skye
Not only does this show Ione Skye's boobs and include the acting debut of Dinosaur Jr frontman J Mascis, but it's also a decent movie about trailer trash.
3˝ stars out of 5
____
The Gate, 1987, Stephen Dorff
Decent horror flick considering the PG-13 rating.
3 stars out of 5
____
The General's Daughter, 1999, John Travolta, Madeleine Stowe, James Cromwell, James Woods, Timothy Hutton
An otherwise good movie falls flat on its face with a lame ending full of psychobabble and B.S.
3˝ stars out of 5
____
Ghost, 1990, Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore, Whoopi Goldberg
I must've been forced to eat quiche before watching this or something, because I actually liked it. I should be shot for being such a sap.
3˝ stars out of 5
____
The Ghost And The Darkness, 1996, Val Kilmer, Michael Douglas
This one actually succeeds in making a story about killer lions suspenseful. Lots of lion maulings and gore, but apart from that, no offensive language to worry about for the kiddies.
4 stars out of 5
____
Ghostbusters, 1984, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Rick Moranis, Sigourney Weaver, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson
This classic wasn't just funny in 1984.
4˝ stars out of 5
>>>>
Ghostbusters II, 1989, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Rick Moranis, Sigourney Weaver, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson
Still funny, but not nearly as good as the original.
3 stars out of 5
____
Gia, 1998, Angelina Jolie, Elizabeth Mitchell, Eric Michael Cole, Kylie Travis, Mercedes Ruehl, Faye Dunaway
Surprisingly good flick that is made great by the fact that Angelina Jolie runs around naked for half the movie. Droolfest.
4 stars out of 5
____
The Gift, 2000, Cate Blanchett, Giovanni Ribisi, Keanu Reeves, Katie Holmes, Greg Kinnear, Hilary Swank
Good until the end, which is so cheesy that it makes you pissed you watched the entire film. But then you remember that Katie Holmes showed her boobs and you're glad that you watched it again.
3 stars out of 5
____
Gimme Shelter, 1970, The Rolling Stones
Fantastic documentary filmed when the band still rocked.
4 stars out of 5
____
Gladiator, 2000, Russell Crowe, Joaquin Phoenix, Connie Nielson, Oliver Reed, Richard Harris
Ultra-manly film about killing people in the most unfriendly manners. Very well casted and acted.
4˝ stars out of 5
____
Glory, 1989, Matthew Broderick, Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washington, Cary Elwes
What had the potential to be a fantastic movie is wasted here in a script laden with melodrama.
3 stars out of 5
____
The Godfather, 1972, Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, James Caan, Talia Shire
Incredible timeless epic about loyalty and horse heads.
5 stars out of 5
>>>>

Sequel surpasses the original in many ways.
5 stars out of 5
>>>>
The Godfather, Part III, 1990, Al Pacino, Diane Keaton, Andy Garcia, Talia Shire, Eli Wallach, Joe Mantegna
The weakest of the three is still head and shoulders above practically everything else.
5 stars out of 5
____
Godzilla, 1998, Matthew Broderick, Jean Reno, Maria, Pitillo, Hank Azaria, Harry Shearer, Michael Lerner
Much mayhem and destruction cannot salvage this terribly acted and scripted modern-day Godzilla remake. I would have almost been more content if Matthew Broderick had made a sequel to Project X instead.
1˝ stars out of 5
____
The Golden Child, 1986, Eddie Murphy, Charlotte Lewis
The last Eddie Murphy to get a laugh out of me for many years. But that's not saying much.
2˝ stars out of 5
____
Good Morning, Vietnam, 1987, Robin Williams, Forest Whitaker
Unfortunately, this film never really decides whether or not it wants to be a comedy or drama.
3 stars out of 5

It's nice to see Macauley Caulkin play the sneering little brat that he really is.
3 stars out of 5
____
The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly, 1966, Clint Eastwood, Eli Wallach, Lee Van Cleef
A true classic with great music, settings, direction and characters. The bad dubbing and nearly 3 hour playing time are the only drawbacks.
4 stars out of 5
____
Good Will Hunting, 1997, Matt Damon, Robin Williams, Minnie Driver, Ben Affleck
Solid performances and a somewhat inspirational story make this one a winner. But will someone tell me why the dog-faced Minnie Driver is such a big deal?
4˝ stars out of 5
____
Goodfellas, 1990, Ray Liotta, Joe Pesci, Robert DeNiro
Tale of two movies. The first one is cool; the second one blows. If you want to see the same thing done better, watch Casino.
2˝ stars out of 5

Excellent recreation of the life of Dian Fossey.
4 stars out of 5

Whatever happened to Maxwell Caulfield?
3 stars out of 5
____
The Great Escape, 1963, Steve McQueen, James Garner, Charles Bronson, Richard Attenborough, James Coburn

Ridiculous fun. The microwave scene is a classic.
4 stars out of 5
>>>>

After a string of bad films, Bill Murray hit the funny bone with this one.
4 stars out of 5

Gung Ho, 1985, Michael Keaton, Gedde Watanabe, George Wendt, Mimi Rogers, John Turturro
Enjoyable comedy about the unfortunate superiority of Japanese management techniques.
3˝ stars out of 5
____
Guns Of Navarone, 1961, Gregory Peck, David Niven, Anthony Quinn, Stanley Baker, Anthony Quayle, James Darren
Solid in almost every area, this is a classic war movie without all the blood and guts. Personally, I prefer the blood and guts, but the classics are classic for a reason.
4 stars out of 5
>>>>
Force Ten From Navarone, 1978, Robert Shaw, Harrison Ford, Edward Fox, Franco Nero, Barbara Bach
Fairly solid sequel is odd only because of the presence of Carl Weathers.
3 stars out of 5
____
Gus, 1976, Edward Asner, Don Knotts, Gary Grimes, Dick Van Patten
The quintessential group of 70s stars unites for a kid's film about a mule that kicks footballs. Fun for kids, I guess.
3 stars out of 5
____
Gymkata, 1985, Kurt Thomas
Awful, awful martial arts farce conveniently tailored for Kurt Thomas, a gymnast.
0 stars out of 5
____
____
Half Baked, 1998, David Chappelle, Jim Breuer, Harland Williams, Guillermo Diaz, Clarence Williams III
The plot is perfectly half-baked for the stoner crowd that this movie is aiming to please. And generally speaking, this is mostly some good-natured, above average dope humor fun.
3 stars out of 5

Outstanding thriller that's generally overlooked because it spawned so many sequels.

I've always thought that Woody Allen was overrated, and this movie is proof of it.
2˝ stars out of 5
____
Hannibal, 2001, Anthony Hopkins, Julianne Moore, Gary Oldman, Ray Liotta
See Silence Of The Lambs. Yes, I know that Manhunter is listed separately, but it isn't really part of the other two movies and nobody in their right mind would associate these two with it.
____
The Hanoi Hilton, 1987, Michael Moriarty, David Soul, Paul LeMat, Jeffrey Jones
A potentially engrossing story within a terrible script.
1 star out of 5

Clint kicks ass and takes names in America's Finest Hour: Grenada.
3˝ stars out of 5

A brilliant satire of the shallowness so pertinent to high school socializing.
4 stars out of 5

One of the better slasher flicks from the early 80s.
2˝ stars out of 5
____
Hellraiser 3: Hell On Earth, 1992, Terry Ferrell, Doug Bradley
Yes, I saw this and none of the others. Reason being because this was filmed about a 5 minute walk away from where I lived at the time. It's not a bad flick.
3 stars out of 5
____
Henry & June, 1990, Fred Ward, Maria de Medeiros, Uma Thurman, Richard E. Grant
I saw this because I read about some great lesbo scene between Uma and Maria d Medeiros. Well, that scene is vastly overrated and the rest of the movie pretty much sucks too. Except for the sex, of course.
1˝ stars out of 5
____

Her Alibi, 1989, Tom Selleck, Paulina Perizkova
Better than average sickening romantic comedy. Paulina Perizkova excites me.

So-so Alien meets Los Angeles type of deal.
2˝ stars out of 5

Hoosiers, 1986, Gene Hackman, Dennis Hopper
If it wasn't for the presence of an always intoxicated Dennis Hopper, this 50s based film-- about a sport which was then not even close to being out of Fledgling Wussy Stage-- would be yet another predictable yawner. As it is, the final producit is still predictable and definitely a yawner, but Dennis Hopper is just too cool sometimes.

This movie is about as cool as it can be given the fact that it involves a bunch of uptight British aristocrats with silver spoons stuck permanently up their ass.

____
The Howling, 1981, Dee Wallace, Christopher Stone
Moronic werewolf movie that is kind of entertaining if you're drunk and don't take it too seriously.

____
Hudson Hawk, 1991, Bruce Willis, Danny Aiello, Andie MacDowell, Sandra Bernhard
Some people have often suspected that I was dropped on my head as a child. I guess my good view of this flick solidifies that idea in their minds.

____
The Hunt For Red October, 1990, Sean Connery, Alec Baldwin, Scott Glenn
The best Tom Clancy novel adaptation to date.

Patriot Games, 1992, Harrison Ford, Anne Archer, Patrick Bergen, James Earl Jones, Sean Bean, Richard Harris
Solid action flick has Ford replacing Alec Baldwin in the main role. Ford is good as usual, and the film is almost as good as its predecessor.

I Know What You Did Last Summer, 1997, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe
Nothing very original, but worth a rental.

I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, 1998, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr., Brandy Norwood
Attrocious sequel is one of the worst movies of the decade. And that's even with all the wet t-shirts.

____
I Spit On Your Grave, 1978, Camille Keaton
Fully prepared to be revolted, I was revolted anyway. The acting is decent for this kind of film, and the brutality so sickeningly believable that I was pleased when the victim of the story gets her revenge on a group of sadistic rednecks.

____
Immortal Beloved, 1994, Gary Oldman, Isabella Rosellini, Jeroen Krabbé, Valeria Golino
Intriguing and somewhat bizarre look into Ludwig Beethoven's life and loves, with the purpose of trying to identify the "immortal beloved" he mentions in his will. Gary Oldman is perfect for the role.

____
In & Out, 1997, Kevin Kline, Joan Cusack, Matt Dillon, Tom Selleck, Debbie Reynolds, Wilford Brimley
Extremely funny but bound to offend certain manly sensibilities, particularly with such a gay ending (pun intended).

____
In The Line Of Fire, 1994, Clint Eastwood, John Malkovich, René Russo
Tense and action-packed. One of Clint's better movies in recent years.

In The Name Of The Father, 1993, Daniel Day-Lewis, Emma Thompson, Pete Postlethwaite
Solid script, good acting, and a true story make this above average.

____
Indecent Proposal, 1993, Robert Redford, Demi Moore, Woody Harrelson
Let us get something straight. An over-the-hill rich guy offers a million bucks to sleep with your hotter than hell wife. Naturally, you take it, right? Wrong! You punch the jerkoff out and steal his money! Woody Harrelson and all involved should've been relegated to making smut films after this disaster.

____
Independence Day, 1996, Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum, Randy Quaid
The biggest blockbuster in ages is a hoot if you take it for what it is: big budget entertainment.

____
Inner Sanctum, 1991, Joseph Bottoms, Margaux Hemmingway, Tanya Roberts
Terrible, terrible mystery movie is made interesting only by the frequent gratuitous sex scenes.

____
Interview With The Vampire, 1994, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Antonio Banderas, Christian Slater, Kirsten Dunst
After reading the book and hearing about who was cast in which roles, I got a bad vibe about this movie. Truth is, Tom Cruise is especially miscast, but he makes the character his own. Great story is flubbed by an alternate, more Hollywood-esque ending.

____
Into The Night, 1985, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Pfeiffer
Average film made watchable due to the very brief shot of Michelle Pfeiffer naked.
