Serpent Jaune was the name given him by Hudson Bay and the French. If the Chief thought he was being taken in, he could come unglued and explode like a coiled snake. They thought he was more like a striking serpent then a little yellowbird.

I use the spelling of Kamiakin in my treaty manuscript, but do not pronounce it Ka-mi-a-kin. The author of Ka-mi-a-kin at the back of his book wrote it was pronounced kamee and the name he called the Chief to his face.

Homily A large family feud developed with Peupeumoxmox Son and Homily for Head Chieftain of the Walla Walla Tribe. After the death of Son, Homily in l863 became the Head Chief.
