You probably know already: there are daily quests that give good rewards to the player for getting up to 10K medals (in fact, these aren't "daily", but refreshed each 20 hours). These are the rewards:
400 medals - 100 crystals
800 medals - 100 stars
1200 medals - 3 portals
1600 medals - Commander card (or 1K stars if you have all Commander cards)
2000 medals - King card (or 1K stars if you have all King cards)
4000 medals - 1K stars
6000 medals - 1K stars
8000 medals - 1K stars
10000 medals - 1K stars
And how do you get medals? You receive 10 for each victory, 1 for upgrades, evolution, exploration of artifact and collecting resources in the castle, and 100 for leveling up or recruiting heroes.
The good news? You can get 10k medals in about 5 minutes. How to do it? Try to have all stats of all your heroes at lv 7 at minimum. This surely costs some crystals, but it pays. We are aiming at that 1 medal for each upgrade: when you restart the main raid, your heroes stats drop to lv 1 again. Each level counts as 11 upgrades, as it has 11 sub-levels. For example, level 1 has sub-levels 1.0, the starting point, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 1.7, 1.8, 1.9 and 1.10. Buying 2.0 costs 1 crystal for the first time, next times it will cost gold. Level 2 also has 10 sub-levels for you to buy using gold, from 2.1 to 2.10, then 3.0 costs 3 crystals for the first time, etc.
As each sub-level counts as an upgrade, and lower levels cost a low amount of gold, it's possible to get tons of medals just paying the gold. You can, but you dont need to do a click per sub-level. At the hero screen, look at the top left corner, and you will see a button that can be used to adjust upgrades to 10x (in fact 11x, it cover a complete level if there is no crystal cost to be paid), and much better, MAX (this one will put the hero stat at the maximum possible that reaches a crystal cost, if there is enough gold). The number of upgrades a stat counts is its number of levels x11 minus one (this because sub-level 1.0 does not count as an upgrade). A hero with all four stats at level 7 will add (76 x 4 =) 304 upgrades, for a few clicks. A fully upgraded stat corresponds to 659 upgrades / medals.
So, what to do? Play some event fights and get some gold (100M gold should be enough), then upgrade to their maximum all stats of your weak heroes, and all you can on your strongest ones. Repeat if needed. Done, 10K medals in some minutes.
NOTE 1: as you play the game, you may increase your minimum stat level to 8, then 9, then 10... More medals each time you restart main raid and upgrade heroes. A have a few heroes at lv 10, but most of them have 13 as minimum stat. One compleste upgrade of my army gives around 30K medals. The main squad, with some lv 60 stats, gives over 10k.
NOTE 2: if you have more gold than upgrading the entire army costs (this is common to me as a veteran, as fight 50+ of cave-like events gives enough gold, but I go further), you can also upgrade your castle. If you click a building, the top left corner has a button to adjust to MAX upgrades as the heroes have. Getting gold from beating the cave makes it possible to upgrade my army without scrap the amount of gold I got, then upgrading the castle gives me like +3K medals for a few clicks.
I consider getting to 10K medals each "day" as essential as it's easy. You shouldn't ignore 6K stars (more, if you use a blazon). Upgrading heroes to rank 5 costs 531K stars (rank 5 costs 19.6K). Upgrading artifacts to lv 6 costs 32.7K stars, and a hero can equip six artifacts. A single hero equipped with lv 6 artifacts costs around 770K stars, and you will want at least 10 of these.
Remember, game "day" has 20 hours, so it happens 438 times each year. This corresponds to 43800 crystals, 1314 portals and over 2.67M stars. Don't underestimate the daily quests, I know it's nearly impossible to not skip it sometimes, but you should try to complete it always you can.
