1. DATES: Saturday 6th May, 2006 and Sunday 7th May, 2006.

2. VENUE: Guardian Life, 12 Trafalgar Road, Kingston 5

3. SPONSORS: Axis (Jamaica) Limited and Guardian Life Limited.

4. FORMAT: Six round Swiss.

5. SCHEDULE: Three Rounds each day.

6. TIME CONTROL: Game in Eighty (80) minutes.

7. PRE-REGISTRATION:

This will be possible on Saturday, 29th April, 2006 and Sunday 30th April, 2006 between 12 noon and 5:00 pm each day at Holy Childhood High School (library) located at 9 Skibo Avenue, Kingston 10 (off Cargill Avenue and beside Parkington Plaza).

NB:- Players may also pre-register with the Treasurer (NM ROBERT WHEELER) at 11 ½ Swallowfield Road, Kingston 5 (999-2427), the President (IAN WILKINSON) at 10 Swallowfield Road, Kingston 5 (960-4798), Vice- President PETER MYERS (425-5939) and Vice-President FM WARREN ELLIOTT (777-7634), Vice-President NM MARK HOLNESS (375-7733 and 971-3070) between 10 am and 4 pm from Friday 28th April, 2006 to Tuesday, 2nd May, 2006.

Players who pre-register will get a discount of Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) on their entry fee.

8. LATE REGISTRATION:

8. LATE REGISTRATION: This will be permitted from 10 am to 4:00 pm. on Wednesday 3rd May, 2006 with any of the above persons AND on Saturday 6th May, 2006 between 9 am and 11 am at the tournament venue. Any player who is not registered by 4:00 pm on Wednesday, 3rd May, 2006 will not be allowed to play in the first round of the tournament. Players who register on Saturday, 6th May will only be eligible to play in round two onwards WITHOUT A HALF POINT BYE.

DAY ONE (Saturday 6th May, 2006)

OPENING CEREMONY: 8:30 am to 8:50 am

ROUND ONE: 9:00 am to 11:40 am

NB: Half (½) point bye available only for first round and will only be allowed after proper registration.

“PROPER REGISTRATION” means paying the relevant fee in addition to completing and submitting the registration form within the time(s) stipulated.

LUNCH / BREAK

ROUND TWO: 12:15 pm to 2:55 pm

ROUND THREE: 3:15 pm to 5:45 pm

DAY TWO (Sunday 7th May, 2006)

ROUND FOUR: 8:30 am to 11:10 am

LUNCH / BREAK

ROUND FIVE: 12:00 pm to 2:40 pm

ROUND SIX: 3:00 pm to 5:40 pm

AWARDS CEREMONY: 6:00 pm to 6:30 pm


9. ENTRY FEES

Adult members - $800.00

Students/Juniors/Women - $600.00

NB: All players must be paid-up members of the Jamaica Chess Federation.

Membership fees – Adults - $2,000 per year.
Juniors- $1,000 per year.

10. GUARANTEED PRIZES

OPEN SECTION: 1st - $12,000.00 plus trophy.
2nd 6,000.00 plus medal
3rd 3,000.00 plus medal

AMATEUR SECTION: 1st - $5,000 plus trophy.
2nd 3,000 plus medal
3rd 1,000 plus medal

Other prizes include best Under 10, 12 and 14 year-old players, best rural player, best female player, best junior, best under 1800 player in the Open section and best new player.
