By Grantel Gibbs, President JCF REPORT The Gleaner, Jamaica's first ever newspaper, joined forces with the Union Bank to become the second Corporate body to contribute to the prize fund for the 2001/2002 National High Schools Chess Championships. The Gleaner's contribution will go towards obtaining a revolving trophy for the best Rural School team in this year's competition. This kind gesture from the Gleaner company, signifies a new and strong relationship between Jamaica's first and oldest newspaper Company and Jamaica's newest and most intellectual sport. END |
