Ledaig
The Ledaig Single Malt Whisky is distilled from a distillery located on the very scenic Isle of Mull. The distillery was initially named Ledaig in 1798 by John Sinclair (who introduced the distillery). This name stuck until the 1970s when it was re-christened Tobermory (since it sits in the harbour village of Tobermory). The town of Tobermory itself used to be called Ledaig, which is Gaelic for Safe Haven.

This distillery makes two Single Malt Whiskies, Ledaig Single Malt Whisky and Tobermory Single Malt Whisky. Although made from the same distillery and from the same water that comes from the Mishnish Lochs, both whiskies have totally different and distinct characters. The barley in Ledaig is directly dried over peated fires for more than 12 hours. These fires impregnate the barley with an intense peaty and smoky flavour. This barley lends its flavour to the final product, leaving the whisky with a very peaty, smoky aroma and taste similar to whiskies made in the Islay region.
