Benromach Distillery & Malt Whisky Centre is located on the outskirts of the Royal Burgh and ancient market town of Forres in the Speyside region of Scotland. It is Scotland's smallest working distillery.
The pace is slow at this distillery and much time and care is taken in checking each stage by hand to ensure that only the finest spirit is filled into carefully selected casks. Its water source the Romach Hills produces the purest spring water.
The distillery itself has a long history and was founded in 1898. The Benromach Distillery changed hands many times and was even mothballed for a period of time until it was rescued by its present owners Gordon Macphail in 1993. They set about an extensive renovation and reinstallation programme to bring Benromach back to its former glory. The distillery was reopened by HRH Prince of Wales in the centenary year of the distillery. |
