The USA Trip

The month July, 2003 may be one of the most excellent months in my life. I went to the United States with little Oi Wan. This was the first time I really went to a non-China place, plus with little Oi Wan. She had a paper to be presented at the Michigan State University. 07120001.jpg (96kb) Outside the Library at the Michigan State University

The University is indeed a good place for studying. There is a Red Cedar River passing through the campus area. It's pretty easy for you to find little animals everywhere, squarrels, ducks, etc. And there are many places worth visiting at the University and in downtown Lansing, esp the Potter Park Zoo. Too bad that I didn't take any pictures there, as I was using the DV and recording everythings around, and the tape was still left alone in my room!

We spent two days at the University. I really enjoyed my time there! It's so relaxing, and let me forget the pressure, and the bad economic environment in Hong Kong. But our schedule of the ten-day trip was so tighted that we had to go and headed to our next stop, Buffalo.

The next day we went to the Niagara Falls by shuttle bus. Here I have a huge tips for you, there is a free shuttle bus service in the hotel next to the Day's Inn to the Niagara Casinos, which is walking distance from the Niagara Falls. If you take the shuttle bus at the airport, it will cost you US$45/person instead!! So that's a huge saving, isn't it?

I can say that Niagara Falls is a "must-go" place in your lifetime! It's hard for me to find a word to describe the view... spectacular? magnificent? We tried many attractions, such as the Maid of the Mist, and the Cave of the Winds. We went to the Observation Tower and the Terrapin Point, and we had lunch at the Top of the Falls restaurant. There's so much for you to explore and discover at Niagara Falls, I would recommend you to buy a Master Pass and plan a whole day there. In our experience, we went there at 10am and left at 4pm, but we were all in a hurry and we miss some attractions. There are tons of hotels around the Niagara Region, but they are using much more expensive then those in Buffalo downtown and around the Buffalo Intl Airport. So there is a trade off. To me, it's really a pitty if you have to skip some activities because you don't have enough time for them. As there are so much worthseeing cities in the world, you may not go to the same place for a second time, right? So plan carefully!

Our last stop is New York. Btw, New York is another 'must-go' place! (Anyway, every new place for me is probably a 'must-go' place :-P) I'd better stop here. There are tons of things worth mentioning in NY. But if you hadn't go with me, you should already get bored right now........Just try to experience yourself and you'll know!
