Sonic remembers that the Knothole Council rejected his proposal to let
himself be roboticized. He then went to the gym where he was attacked
by Nack the Weasel. Nack took Sonic to Robotnik, and Robotnik roboticized
Sonic. Sonic was then Mecha-Sonic. Mecha-Sonic destroyed most
of Knothole and fought against both Bunnie and Knuckles. Sally had
Knuckles roboticized, creating Mecha-Knuckles. The battle ended when Mecha-Sonic
and Mecha-Knuckles crashed into Robotropolis and triggered some nuclear
bombs. Thanks to Sonic's billionth magic ring, he was able to return
to normal. However, now everyone thinks that Sonic disobeyed Sally's
order, which means Sonic that was accused of mutiny. Now Sonic waits in
jail for his trial.
Part I:
Sonic is mad at Antoine, who brought the charges against Sonic. Sonic
says that Antoine is only in charge because everyone else is rebuilding
Knothole. Antoine tells Sonic to be quiet and then leaves to prepare
for a parade honoring his coronation. Sonic runs around the cell,
wanting to help rebuild Knothole. Suddenly a voice yells that Sonic
is not a villain. Sonic looks out the jail window to find Amy Rose
(from Sonic the Hedgehog #25) protesting outside
his cell.
Sally watches Amy and remarks on how Amy still believes in Sonic.
Rotor asks if Sonic will be acquitted, but Sally says she is not allowed to
discuss the issue. Rotor then updates Sally on the reconstruction and
praises King Acorn's disaster plan. The citizens of Knothole work hard
to remove the pieces of heavy equipment that were stored underground.
Rotor tells Sally that she has done a good job taking her father's place.
Sally says that it's not easy and begins to cry. She walks over to Amy
and tells her that she has done enough civil disobedience for the day.
Amy thinks that Sally will pardon Sonic. Sally says that she cannot
because of the charges. Sonic demands to be released, and Sally says
to save his emotions for court the next morning. Sally drags Amy away
from Sonic as he complains that the chili dogs are stale.
Part II:
Hip and Hop (from Sonic #6) announce that they
are the Kangaroo Court Judges and will decide if Sonic is guilty. Sonic
recognizes them from his spinball adventure. Hip and Hop assure Sonic
that there is no conflict of interest and they cannot sentence him.
Sonic asks who will sentence him, and Sally appears. Hip and Hop call
the court to order, and Bunnie is ordered to guard Sonic. Bunnie explains
that Rotor gave her a "hedgehog hunter," a missile that is tuned in to Sonic's
aura.
Sally tells the prosecution to begin. Antoine begins to grill the
witnesses, proving that Sonic disobeyed orders. After Antoine calls
himself to the stand, Sonic gives his rebuttal. Sonic argues that the
cell next to him, which belonged to Nack the Weasel, was empty and Antoine
was too busy with his coronation to notice. Sally asks if this is true,
and Antoine begins to stutter. Sonic tells Sally to remove his cuffs.
Sally says that the trial is about Sonic's guilt and asks the judges to cast
their votes. Both Hip and Hop say that Sonic is guilty. Furious,
Sonic destroys his handcuffs and tells Bunnie to stay back. Sonic says
that the verdict is wrong and asks for time to prove his innocence.
Sally decides to delay Sonic's sentencing for 24 hours and tells Rotor to
give Sonic a wristlock tracking device. Sonic puts the device on his
arm and runs out of the courtroom.

Part III:
Robotnik sees Sonic on a monitor and realizes that Sonic is still alive.
He complains that his computer has been offline since the bombs exploded
in Robotropolis (in the Mecha
Madness special). The swatbots are working to restore the city, and Robotnik
says that soon Mobius will see his "ultimate weapon of destruction."
Robotnik then manually determines where Sonic is heading. When discovering
the location, he realizes that Sonic will not return.
Sonic enters the Robo Hobo Jungle, which is the area for used and obsolete
robots. Caterkiller (who Sonic first encountered in the mini-series issue #0) ambushes Sonic.
Sonic quickly separates Caterkiller, and Bat-Brain attacks. The classic
badniks attack and surround Sonic.

Sonic fights the classic badniks
The battle is over, and Sonic picks up Caterkiller's head demanding to
know where he can find Nack. He threatens Caterkiller, and the robot
eventually tells Sonic that Nack is at the Bottom of the Barrel Bar 'n'
Grill. Sonic runs quickly and finds a gorilla at the door. Sonic
demands to see Nack. The gorilla says that Nack isn't seeing anybody and
throws Sonic away from the building. Sonic uses his figure eight move
(last seen in the Super
Sonic vs Hyper Knuckles special) and pushes the gorilla through the door.
Sonic demands that everyone except Nack leave. Nack raises his hands
and then explains that his hands are on sticks as he sprays Sonic with his
gas gun. Sonic passes out, and Nack runs to his sky sled. Nack
decides to call Robotnik just in case the gorilla is unable to take care of
Sonic.
Part IV:
A swatbot tells Robotnik that a message is being transmitted to an old
unit. Robotnik recognizes the voice, and Nack says he wants to be
paid for the location of Sonic. Nack refuses to give the location before
receiving payment after he was betrayed last time (from Sonic #39). Robotnik wants to know why Nack doesn't
have Sonic with him, and Nack says that every time Sonic is in the sky sled
he gets attacked. Sonic appears from the back of Nack's sled, and a
thump is soon heard. Sonic tells Robotnik that they should discuss
insurance. He says that an ion sky sled could fly to Robotropolis on
auto pilot and self-destruct. As Sonic sends the sky sled on its way,
Robotnik demands to know if he is being threatened. A swatbot informs
Robotnik that the computer works and it shows a weapon approaching.
Suddenly there is an explosion.
Sally says that she felt something, and Rotor explains that there was a
major explosion in Robotropolis. Sally wants to know how it happened
and if Sonic's tracker still works. Rotor says that the tracker stopped
about the same time as the explosion. Sonic appears and apologizes
for breaking the tracker. He had removed the windscreen to use it as
a gas mask filter. Sonic then throws Nack on the floor, and Nack says
that he is ready to confess. Rotor takes Nack to the jailhouse as
Sally thanks Sonic. Sally says she will publicly apologize to Sonic
and announce his pardon and reinstatement. Sonic says that Sally doesn't
need to do that since there is so much work to be done. Sally wishes
that the other freedom fighters could have Sonic's attitude. The two
walk outside and find Antoine instructing a band what to play for his parade.
