Recap Trading Cards (to recap the events of Sonic the Hedgehog #39)
Sonic wanted to be roboticized, but this idea was rejected by the Knothole Council.  Soon Sonic was ambushed by Nack the Weasel and taken to Robotropolis.  Robotnik then creates the "real" Mecha-Sonic.  Mecha-Sonic battles Bunnie as he tried to destroy Knothole Village.  Knuckles showed up and lost a fight with Mecha-Sonic.  What will happen to the freedom fighters?

"Mecha Madness"

Part I:
Sally says that they have their orders, and Rotor has Antoine hold Knuckles.  As Rotor leaves, Sally asks Nicole to scan the village.  Nicole explains that Knothole was evacuated by Sally's command (in Sonic #39).  Mecha-Sonic is only destroying the buildings now.  Sally is upset at Sonic's mutinous behavior, and Antoine offers to form a sub-committee to investigate. Sally says that she is giving the orders and orders Rotor to bring the 'botmaker.  Rotor explains that the device was acquired after they first met Bunnie.  Although the "port-o-bot" was damaged, Rotor had repaired it according to Sally's orders.  Rotor thinks that it might be operational.  Antoine asks if it has been tested.  Sally says that it hasn't been tested yet.

Rotor asks if they are sinking to Robotnik's level, and Sally says they must fight fire with fire and use every weapon to survive.  Knuckles becomes conscious and punches Antoine, who he thinks is Mecha-Sonic.  Sally realizes Knuckles is delirious.  Knuckles sees a fat figure, which is actually Rotor, and thinks that itis Robotnik.  Knuckles punches Rotor, and Sally kicks Knuckles in the back.  Knuckles realizes that the only one that could do that was Princess Sally.

Knuckles asks if Sally remembers the times her father would vacation on the Floating Island.  Sally says that those were simple times.  Bunnie perks up at the chance for gossip.  Knuckles then remembers that he has a job to do.  Sally explains that she has an old roboticizer and a neuro-overrider.  Knuckles takes the device and jumps into the roboticizer as Sally says she needs to explain the risks.  Knuckles says that she can explain everything when he's Mecha-Knuckles.

Part II:
Tails is glad that he evacuated Knothole since there is nobody here.  Suddenly Tails realizes that he is the only one left.  Mecha-Sonic spots Tails and begins to fire at him.  As Mecha-Sonic prepares to fire again at Tails, he hesitates.  Robotnik's image appears on a monitor in Mecha-Sonic's arm and asks if Mecha-Sonic hesitated.  Robotnik tells Mecha-Sonic that he must destroy his former friends.  Robotnik decides that he will destroy the freedom fighters since he has some nuclear bombs he wants to use.  He then commands Mecha-Sonic to give to give the coordinates of Knothole.  Mecha-Sonic hesitates and then prepares to transmit the location.

Mecha-Knuckles appears and punches Mecha-Sonic.  He destroys the device on Mecha-Sonic's arm that allows him to communicate with Robotnik.  Mecha-Sonic realizes that Mecha-Knuckles retained his personality and fights back.  Mecha-Knuckles appears to have the upper hand and throws Mecha-Sonic to the ground.  Mecha-Sonic stands up and calculates the perfect punch.  When Mecha-Knuckles comes close, Mecha-Sonic punches him toward Robotropolis where the nuclear warheads await.  Mecha-Knuckles realizes that there is no way he can stop moving, so he reverses the polarity in his claws to create a magnetic field.  Mecha-Sonic is pulled in towards Knuckles, and soon there is an explosion.

Part III:
The freedom fighters realize that neither Mecha-Sonic nor Mecha-Knuckles were probably able to survive that blast.  Meanwhile, at ground zero, a crater is filled with radiation.  Many swatbots were vaporized, factories and trash reduced to nothing, and the air is now poisonous.  Robotnik opens a manhole, thankful he was able to get to his shelter in time.  He sees something moving in the rubble and pulls out Mecha-Sonic.  Robotnik says that Mecha-Sonic was badly damaged, but that he could be repaired.  Mecha-Knuckles appears and head-butts Robotnik.  Robotnik asks why Mecha-Knuckles has less damage than Mecha-Sonic.  Mecha-Knuckles says that he was roboticized by an old unit, one created before Robotnik started to use inferior foreign parts.  In addition, Mecha-Sonic turned so that he would take on most of the damage as they hit.  Mecha-Knuckles says that Robotnik's "brain-burn-through" device did not work that well and Sonic was able to retain a part of his personality.  Mecha-Knuckles leaves and brings Mecha-Sonic back to Knothole.

Part IV:
Sally hugs Mecha-Knuckles, happy that he survived.  Nicole says that Mecha-Knucklesis in danger of burnout, so Sally asks Tails to take Mecha-Knuckles to the port-o-bot and prepare it for deroboticization.  Sally says that the old roboticizer can only deroboticize creatures that were roboticized in that machine.  Rotor remarks that he can still feel the real Sonic.  Mecha-Sonic says that he does not deserve to live since he betrayed both his friends and loved ones.  Sally gives Nicole to Rotor and tells him to figure out a way to save Sonic.

Tails says that he reversed the system, and Knuckles begins to enter the machine.  Sally salutes Knuckles, and soon Tails tells her that Knuckles should be back to normal in three minutes.  Sally then heads back to Rotor, who lets Nicole tell her the news.  Nicole explains that when Sonic collected his billionth magic ring, he went on a journey and returned with a protective aura (in Sonic #35).  An internal shield was also created, which retained Sonic's life force when he was roboticized.  Rotor continues to explain that at this point in time he would take Sonic to his lab, but it has been destroyed.  Sally asks if they can salvage what they need, and Rotor says that Sonic doesn't have much time.

Nicole explains that she has the necessary data.  If plugged into Mecha-Sonic, she can begin the retro-procedure.  Sally asks if this is impossible.  When Rotor doubts Nicole, she shocks him and jumps to Sally's hands.  Nicole asks if she can try, and Sally agrees.  She plugs Nicole into Mecha-Sonic, and Nicole begins her work.  Soon an energy overrides reality and restores Sonic to his normal self.  Knuckles appears and looks at Sonic, noting that they are both back to normal.  Sonic demands to know what Knuckles is doing there and tells him to return to the Floating Island.  Knuckles says that he saved everyone and he knew Sonic would be ungrateful.  Knuckles turns and flies back toward the Floating Island.

Sally is upset at Sonic, especially after how Knuckles saved them all.  Sonic asks what Sally means and says that the last thing he remembered was being roboticized.  Antoine handcuffs Sonic and says that he is under arrest.  Nicole cites the Kingdom of Acorn Rulebook that says a subject disobeying a royal order must be put on trial for treason.  Bunnie explains that Sonic disobeyed the order when he let Robotnik roboticize him.  Sonic protests, and Sally tells him to save it for court. Antoine takes Sonic away from the freedom fighters as Sonic says he has been framed.

(The court-martial of Sonic will appear in Sonic #40.)

"Don't Let the Island Hit You on the Way Down!"

Although a battle was won on Mobius (the main story), the Floating Island witnesses a losing battle.  Predator Hawk attacks Charmy, sending him to the ground.  Sgt. Simian easily defeats Mighty and then contacts his other squad.  He informs them that an alarm has been set off.

Vector walks in and realizes something is wrong.  He says they must have intruders.  Espio does not respond since he is invisible.  Suddenly Lightning Lynx appears and attacks Espio.  Lightning Lynx explains that his keen senses allowed him to track Espio.  As Vector watches, Flying Frog attacks him from behind.  Vector and Espio run into each other.

The squad looks at the motionless Chaotix.  Suddenly the Chaotix jump to their feet and fight back.  Mighty demands that they talk.  A figure appears and attacks the Chaotix, sending them to the ground.  He says he is Mammoth Mogul, the former and future ruler of Mobius.  Mammoth explains that he was born eons ago and one day received a bolt of energy from a jewel.  Instead of dying, Mammoth gained unlimited power.  Mammoth used his power to become ruler.  However, over the millennia, the species evolved and overthrew Mammoth.  Mammoth explains that the jewel also gave him immortality, which is why he can say he has lived through millennia.  He eventually learned that the jewel was a Chaos Emerald.  Now he will increase his power by taking the Floating Island's Chaos Emerald.  Afterwards he will overthrow Robotnik and regain his position as ruler of Mobius.  The Chaotix decide to fight and attack Mammoth and his group.  Mammoth decides that this isn't the right time to fight and escapes, promising to return.  The Chaotix say that they will be waiting.

"Eel of Fortune"

P.B. Jellyfish confronts Octobot as the robot swims away.  Octobot says that it was just passing through and swims when a shadowy figure appears.  The figure tells P.B. that he is Eel Capone, the boss of the water.  P.B. gets ready to attack, but Eel Capone's hired mussels bite P.B.  Later, P.B. regains consciousness.  Ray says they were informed by the Plankton Intelligence Agency that Eel Capone was the one that attacked P.B.  Bivalve asks if Fluke, the blue whale, can help.  Ray says that Fluke is migrating.  A figure in black appears and says that he'll stop the eel.

Eel Capone shows the mussels that his territory ends at the continental shelf.  The mussels comment that the drop is two miles.  Suddenly a figure swims by, knocking the mussels off the cliff.  The water pressure crushes the mussels as Eel Capone watches in horror.  Bottlenose appears and hits Eel Capone.  He explains that he has been trained in the marine martial arts; so he is a finja warrior.  Bottlenose throws a starfish at Eel Capone, knocking him unconscious.  P.B. picks up Eel Capone as Bottlenose says he is happy that his training paid off.  Bivalve says that the victory should be immortalized in song, and the sea creatures begin to sing.
