While Knuckles journeys back from Albion, the Chaotix, along with new member Julie-Su, are taking over Knuckles' duties on the Floating Island.

Harry, a cabdriver, waits for customers during the graveyard shift. Suddenly, a voice calls out for help, and he goes to investigate. Charmy is holding the head of another bee and asks the cabdriver for help. Harry picks up the bee and begins to drive him to the hospital. He uses his radio so that the doctors are waiting for him when they arrive. A doctor and nurse put the bee on a stretcher and rush away, leaving Harry and Charmy. Harry feels that he should leave, but Constable Remington arrives. Remington was worried that it was Charmy in the hospital and asks what happened. Harry walks toward the door when Vector slams the door back on his nose. Vector is shocked to see a large Charmy in front of him and thinks it is a costume. Charmy explains that he is his normal size, but when he is in flight mode he is smaller. Mighty helps Harry off of the floor, apologizing for Vector. Suddenly, a doctor appears from the operating room and looks upset. Charmy begins to cry on Harry's shoulder.

Harry wonders if he should have been a truck driver like his friend Jollie. Jollie stops to make a delivery and explains that the supplier made him late. As he prepares to unload the cargo, Renfield the Rodent watches the scene on a monitor. Renfield is pleased that he is reopening Happyland after Echidnaopolis reappeared (from Knuckles the Echidna #4-5-6). Ebony Hare watches Renfield on a monitor and says that if something goes wrong, Renfield will be responsible.

Once the Chaotix are gathered in Remington's office, Remington asks Charmy if he is ready to answer some questions. Julie-Su appears in the office, saying that Remington's secretary was the one that told her to come. Vector is disgusted at the sight of Julie-Su, and Remington tries to stop the argument before it starts. Turning his attention toward Charmy, Remington asks Charmy what he and his friends were doing the night before. Charmy explains that he and his friend Mellow were at Happyland. The Chaotix are shocked since Happyland was closed (in the Knuckles' Chaotix special). Charmy says that Happyland was under new management, and Mellow wanted to go. After they visited Happyland, Mellow began acting strange and then fell to the ground, kicking and twitching. After that, Harry found them, and Mellow was taken to the hospital.

Remington explains that there are similar cases to Mellow. Many victims were found having "lemon sundrop dandelion" poisoning; even though the victims never had it before, they were now dependent. After studying the cases, Remington's team of scientists developed a theory that the victims ate the trigger. Since the victims were young, areas where children would hang out were investigated. Charmy asks why Mellow didn't survive like the other victims. Remington says that he does not know and that they have to wait for a medical report for the answer. He then orders the Chaotix to investigate Happyland.

Locke studies a series of screens since Knuckles is missing. Sabre asks for the location of his grandson, and Locke finds out that Knuckles is in the Badlands (after his adventures in Knuckles #10-11-12 and Sonic the Hedgehog #58). Knuckles hears a sound that gets louder. Covering his ears, Knuckles notices a bright light and begins to run in fear of being trampled. Locke presses some buttons quickly, knowing that Knuckles has learned more than what he should have.

The Chaotix leave the building, and Charmy approaches Harry's cab. Charmy thanks Harry and then looks at him with a cute face. Harry recognizes the look and realizes that something bad is going to happen. Charmy asks Harry for a favor, and soon Harry drives the Chaotix to Happyland. As soon as the Chaotix leave the cab, Harry speeds away. Julie-Su says they should investigate any place that sells food and then asks Charmy if Mellow ate anything. Charmy thinks back and says he doesn't remember Mellow eating anything. A flashback shows that while Charmy watched a clown juggling, Mellow bought a chili-dog. Charmy wonders if Mellow ate something at another place.

Harry has a bad feeling that he did something wrong as he drives past another car. Inside the car is Ebony Hare and his lady friend. At Happyland, Mighty assumes that the food is safe and buys a chili-dog. Julie-Su protests and says they should wait and make sure it's safe as Vector begins to buy a chili-dog. Meanwhile, Renfield sits back in his chair, happy that his park is doing well. Ebony Hare bursts in and says he is Renfield's new partner. If Renfield refuses, his friend Blackjack will take care of Renfield.

Vector says they should leave and then notices that something is wrong with Charmy. Suddenly Espio, Mighty, and Vector begin to feel sick. Charmy thinks he is falling while Mighty chases invisible birds. Espio throws up into a trash can as Vector lays motionless on the ground. Julie-Su says that she told them so and then asks Charmy to speak to her. Charmy tells Julie-Su to take a trip to the center of his mind.
