| Introduction |
The Dwarves who stay in Liamelia live in magically crafted homes in the base of specially grown trees. It's not underground, but it suits them better then living in the open like the other races. But mostly, both Shield and Gold Dwarves make their homes close to where they make their living, in the trading cities of Siannodel and Lindorneaceleb. This way they sleep well knowing that their prized work and other metal or gem goods aren't too far away. Liamelia treasures the Dwarves for their skill with the forge and metal. Often they are hired to make mundane goods for Liamelian forces, but mostly make a grand living through crafting weapons and armour or gemcutting for customers and merchants. For food and entertainment, the Dwarves like their meat red off the bone and their ale foaming. Unfortunately there is no hunting permitted within the forest, so all meat is imported from outside lands, and their ale is something all Dwarves young or old can brew. As for entertainment, the Dwarves are quickly picking up the tricks of Halflings but still have a lot to learn before they are able to compete with Halflings let alone with Gnomes. Halflings are openly accepted throughout Liamelia for their skill or humour and performances or their devotion to the forest. Strongheart Halflings often sell themselves as mercenaries to merchants or as hired help to adventurers. They live in the trading cities with other races and often hold friendly competitions of skill and athletics with others. Lightfoot Halflings are the liveliest of the Halflings. They prefer trouble and curiousness to boredom. They often play tricks on others or are hired to put on performances at taverns or other public places. Lightfoots also live within the trading cities where fun is in abundance. But not all Lightfoot Halflings are trouble makers or jokers. Some open shops to sell goods or offer a service to customers. Ghostwise Halflings remain within their clans and stay in the forest. They act as part of Liamelia's defence. Their past has scared them when they were exiled from Lluirwood by both Stonghearts and Lightfoots. Since then, these Ghostwise Halflings have lived a life defending Liamelia Forest in order to atone for falling under evil's influence, but the other races feel that the have atoned long ago. Since then, other Ghostwise Halfling clans from Methwood and Forest of Amtar have made their way into Liamelia forest to join with other clans. Wherever there is a market, technicians, alchemists and inventors - there are Gnomes. No other is better at these trades then Gnomes. They are valued for there skill with equipment and engineering. Merchants and adventurers pay a good amount of coin for their useful slaves and potions or inventions. They are also skilled gemcutters and tutors. Gnomes prefer their homes in wooded areas. In Liamelia, their homes are fashioned just like the Dwarves, in the base of trees. For entertainment, gnomes often play games or tricks on others, often just to see how a crowd would react. They excel in illusions and often compete with Lightfoot Halflings as to who is the cleverest or trickiest. But when both Gnomes and Halflings work together, they can often dupe anyone, even the wisest of dragons. The Cloud Dragons and any other Goodly Dragons who visit Liamelia find the mix of culture and peace among the residence fascinating. They see a diverse mix of races living and working together as one with little or no conflict. Not often is such a place created and even fewer accept Dragons as part of their fold! The Dragons of Liamelia find warmth and friendship among other races, something that is hard to come by in the outside world. Liamelia values the Dragons, not just for their strength and skill in combat, but for their wisdom. Most Dragons see more years then even Elves and have much to offer and share in terms of knowledge and insight. Mostly Elves enjoy and pay well for the tutelage from a Dragon, but the other races are quickly becoming curious about these large mystical creatures that they truly know very little about. In return, the Dragons are viewing their long lives through different eyes, like through the eyes of Elves and their love for music and art or through the eyes of Dwarves and the blessings of stone and metal. They are intrigued with the engineering of mechanics shown by Gnomes and have developed a taste for fun games and tricks learned by Halflings. Most if not all Dragons love the looks of awe they get from the smaller races and often magically shrink themselves instead of changing their appearance so that they may waltz through the kingdom or the trading cities. How they do treasure the looks they get from humans! As for the Elves, harmony has found it's way back to the sub-races of the Elves. All seven sub-races live and work in peace with each other, but each have the own personalized living conditions and groups such as clans or families. The Wild and Wood Elves live in clans within the forest, making their homes within forest coloured tents. Both kinds Elves never stay in one place for long, packing up all equipment as they move to another area of the forest. Wild and Wood Elves are at home in the thick forests and often come together to compete in games of skill and tactic. This makes them great at taking up patrol duties, looking out for outsiders trying to make their way into the forest. While the two groups like to work and live among their own kind, both Wild and Wood Elves have no problem coming together in celebration or against a common threat. The Sea Elves also live in clans and make their homes out of magically created corals in The Naga Flow and River Arran, which runs through Liamelia Forest. The Sun, Moon and Dark Elves live in families and form homes near the center of the Liamelian Forest where the heart of the kingdom lies and the lordship watches over it's realm. The Sun Elves form homes that have a natural look to it, full of life and colour. The Moon Elves like the human aspect of architecture with a touch of Elven magic to give it a dull look but with the radiance of magic. The Dark Elves like their spiralling column-like towers interlinked to each other as homes. All three of these Elven sub-races make up the main bulk of elves that craft minor magic item, for sale or trade at any of the two trade cities that Liamelia Forest has under it's control and protection. Lastly are the Half-Elves who have better tolerance and relationships with outside races. They make their homes in the trade cities and watch over all trade proceedings with outside and visiting races. Liamelian life is a joyous, colourful and merry place. Celebrations are common and always spectacular to behold. Mage, Clerics and Warriors often use celebration as a time to test their steel and wage coin. From the treetop homes that the elves have fashioned as they do in Evermeet and once did in Myth Drannor, many elves float down making a rather amusing entrance. While the women wear the ancient gowns of mist and veils of fog with gems strung along their chest and hair, their male counterparts wear equally revealing and exotic dressings of shifting light and heavenly song as diamonds and gems lay in spider thin wire nets across their shoulders and arms. All racial holidays are celebrated with much success as these events draw in quite a bit of travelers far and wide who wish to see such spectacles. This is where the many cultures and sub-cultures are displayed in their finest hour with a mix of celebration from every end of Liamelian society. All have taken an interest in Dwarven and Gnomish competitions of skill and craftsmanship, Halfling competition in athletics, Elvish fashion and dance and of course, stories of old and forgotten remembered by only the Dragons of great age. |
