Originally named Chondalwood, this forest has undergone dramatic changes in terms of it's residence. Large wood giants - great Treants still roam the forest, but mainly occupy the northern border, ever watchful of loggers and poachers. Troops of Centaur and Satyr still patrol 'The Old Road', scaring travelers into making haste out of the forest or to go around it. And clans of Ghostwise Halflings still roam about the forest, never staying in one spot for too long. All of these intelligent races had one goal in mind, to prevent human encroachment. For many years, the people of The Vilhon Reach have wondered over the existence of an elven realm within the forest. Their questions where finally answered in 900 DR, when the folk of Chondath confirmed that thousands of Elves from all over were traveling to the woods, where a new Elven realm had been built in secret. Now, the renamed Chondalwood to Liamelia Forest, is more then just home to it's original inhabitants and Elves, it's a kingdom and realm composed of harmony and tradition between the other pure blooded races such as Dwarves, Halflings, Gnomes, and Goodly Dragons. The Kingdom of Liamelia severs as a refuge to those who wish to escape overwhelming hordes or the corruption of other races, such as humans. The kingdom itself does not sit on the ground, but rather 40 feet in the air, based around the trunks of trees that are nearing 80-90 feet in overall height. Elven clans and families like their living space, so the kingdom is spread over a wide area. All of this is in an effort to preserve the natural order of the forest. During the day, when the elves and other races are in full swing of their daily activities, wild buffalo, deer, bears and other natural creatures can be seen traveling right under the kingdom with no disruptions or disturbances. But while the kingdom has a view of natural beauty and awe during the day, the magical enchantment of the place becomes obvious at night. Swirling colors of glowing Fairy Fire line the many structures and homes about the kingdom giving it a look of absolute radiance. Sparkling dots of yellow and white, the light of Continual Flame torches and every conceivable color of Fairy Fire highlight the intricate and crafted designs of the natural structures. The display can be viewed in normal vision, Darkvision and Infravision. All the clans take great pride on the color coordination they give to their slightly dimmed, illuminating homes. Only from within The Border Wall of Liamelia and at the same height as the kingdom, can this vibrant display of majestic enchantment be seen. Dragon Riders, Arcane Archers, Cleric Wizards and Sorcerers Rogues are among the few that revel in the kingdom's lights in the night and day. This Elven haven is a place of training, preparation and knowledge. Both beautiful and deadly, it is declared off limits to all but those of the first blood and natural order. Guarded by Elven High Magic, native Satyr, Dwarven and Gnomish ingenuity, fierce Halflings and Centaur, great Tree Treantons, a host of Cloud Dragons and a siege of well-trained Elves, any caught trying to sneak or force their way in are met with much hostility and brutal force. |
