Watchtower over the forest, protector of the trees, defender of the natural way of life, Tarnruth is the Great Druid of Liamelia and commander of over 200 Treants.  Since he was a sapling, Tarnruth watched the humanoid empires grow and the natural world shrink.  As the years went by, Tarnruth and his folk were forced to drive more and more enemies of the forest from his woods.  Through his many battles, Tarnruth has collected quite a bit of treasure from fallen intruders.  The most useful to him he keeps in his bag of holding, while the rest are distributed among the other Treants or hidden within the forest.  As the last surviving elder, Tarnruth was the only druid Treant left within the forest, but has worked hard to train others of his kin; now all Treants are respectable druids in their own right.  His devotion to the forest and druid ways has presented him the Great Druid's Staff, a gift and artifact that could have only come from the hand of Silvanus himself.  Over the years, Tarnruth's allies grew in number and size, from the barbaric Ghostwise Halflings, to rangers of Mielikki, other druids of Silvanus and an elven city within the forest, but so did his enemies, including the human inter-city states of Chondath.  In continuing to improve the defence of the forest, Tarnruth was fortune enough to learn Rune Magic, which he now implores all over the forest, using spells that hamper or attack intruders.  To further help him defend the forest, the Lords of Liamelia gifted him with a few items, including the magical Greatclub that has been nick-named "Tarnruth's Rage".  For untold years, Tarnruth battled against the 'People of the Black Hand', who are worshipers of Malar.  They consist mostly of Lycanthropes (shapechangers).  Many times the Treants have ambushed or have been ambushed by this band.  Many know that it is Tarnruth who works with dedication to hunt down and slay these menacing lycanthropes every chance he gets.  Calling natural allies, setting traps and charging fearlessly into battle is how he got the nickname, 'the Fierce'.  After several raids on The People's lairs, many of the shapechangers fled to hide in the human cities to the North. Now, Tarnruth spends his time defending the north and north western part of the forest from would-be loggers, poachers and any signs that the 'People of the Black Hand' were attempting to return.  Tarnruth enjoys scaring any intruders with ghostly cries of "GET OUT!!", but is not afraid to take more direct approaches to drive them off.  Few settlers realize that it is the work of Tarnruth and his kind who continues to expand the borders of the forest using plant growth spells.  His Treants roam all over the forest, but Tarnruth mostly occupies the northern parts, which have been rightfully labelled 'Tarnruth's Woods'.
