Picture Completion
Goal:
The student will practice color blending with colored pencils trying to
obtain a perfect match while exhibiting a realistic or creative expansion of
their color magazine photo.
Materials:
9” X 12” white paper
white glue
scratch white paper
Student provided color magazine photo
approximately 2” min. to 6” max.
4 different colored pencil sets per table
Steps:
1. Bring a colored magazine photo to
class.
2. Glue the photo almost anywhere, but NOT
the exact center. Be sure to leave a minimum of 2" to the edge.
3. LIGHTLY continue the photo to about 2"
beyond the photo's edges in all directions.
4. Carefully FIRST match the color on
scratch paper, and then continue the photo’s colors at a single place.
Be as exact as possible, as the assignment’s goal is to match colors.
5. The major thrust of your efforts should
be to match the colors and shapes already seen in the photo.
YOUR GRADE is based on:
·correct use of time ·accurate
color matching
·creative use of space ·correct
and supportive behavior around your classmates
an "A"
colors match correctly, the edges of the colors away from the photo are
diffused
pencil marks do NOT show, or if they do they follow the photo's subject's
contours
The photo's subject has been continued in a believable manner
a "B"
overall it is good work, some marks may show however
some colors may not be done well enough before moving on to another area
the time could have been spent better.
a "C"
average student work, some marks show, time was spent fairly well
too much effort was put in to areas that do not matter.
a "D"
the student managed to get a thing or possible two correct
wasted time, areas colored in with little regard to the "real" color
an "F", failure of the
project
the work was carelessly done with little regard to the actual color or
shapes present in the photo
time was wasted, plain and simply wasted. Student did not respond to
the teacher's help correctly
student gave up and did not ask and listen to help from anyone
