This is a fairly simple concept to grasp; I want the project done before "extra credit" is to be earned.  This is intended to keep the student's life simple.  Whatever "extra credit" is submitted is only worth one (1) point per week at a maximum anyway!  At best with "extra credit" you will only be able to push a grade 10%, however, for each project worked on and raised one (1) letter grade the grade is increased by 30%!  Clearly it pays to fix a project and not attempt to earn "extra credit" until assigned work is done.

Each day's grade is a maximum of an "A" and that equals 10 points per day.  The "extra credit" is worth 1 point per day. So, again, what would you rather do, earn 1 point or increase a grade two letter grades, 60% or???  The clear choice is to do your work correctly and earn the maximum that way, and then "extra credit" can be done with a free and relaxed conscience!

If you doodle around outside of the regular school day my "extra credit"  idea is to show me and earn the bonus point, the "extra credit" point.  I would like students to work on art as often as possible, both for my class and any other class.  I want to give you what you have earned by awarding the "extra credit" for any artwork done outside of the regular school day.  Any class' art work may be shown to me for that extra point so long as some of the work was done outside of the regular school day.  I hope I have made myself clear. If not, just ask me and I will be happy to help.

The moral here is to do any class' work first, then work that you do as "extra" credit will boost your grade by 10%. Remember that hard work will pay off more than "extra credit" in the long run every time!  Seems to be true all through life too as a "free lunch" is rarely free; it usually comes at a greater cost than if you would buy it outright!  This is one of the things I attempt to teach you as to how to succeed by using your brains.  Think smart and the "hard part" of life becomes much easier!
