To figure the basic grade being earned is pretty easy when you know how much time was spent on the project and what grade was earned.  Things to keep in mind that affect the grade are how much extra credit has been earned and how many points have been lost.

Extra credit is earned by doing any artwork outside of the regular school day.  If one plans it correctly a Math assignment done at home may be shown for credit with me and then turned in for Math credit as well!  What you do is spend genuine time on some art process and share it with me, it is that simple.  All that is asked for is that it is to be worked on outside of the regular school day.

Points may be lost by not following the class rules.  Rules are in existence to help the student be successful in a controlled setting.  Many places is Life qualify as a controlled setting such as a workplace, a club or organization and even a marriage.  Failure to be able to follow established guidelines often means that the benefits of that place are lost or severely lost.

Some common ways to lose 1 point are: chewing gum or candy in class, cussing, “losing” one’s paper, being tardy to class and being sent out of the room.  Let’s face it, all of these items are commonly known to be against school rules.  I have many times counseled the class to beware of these.

Only one point (1) of “extra credit” may be earned per week, whereas many points may be deducted.  Think about it before you may a poor decision.

Grades are based on a 10 point scale, where an “A” is a 10, a “D+” is a 2.5 and an “F” is a zero.  Failure to turn in anything results in no number placed for the student.  All projects of three (3) days have their score multiplied by 3, seven (7) days multiplied by 7, and so on.  Points on or off of the grade are multiplied by 5, for five days in a week.

Look at the example below and then use the same method to calculate your own grade based on what you have learned in class.  Any assistance by pointing out errors in understanding or other pertinent information will be cheerfully considered. In all calculations please keep in mind that the teacher’s judgment is final.
