Name
Within a Circle
Goal:
The student will place their name into a circular
shape and color it in as described below.
Materials:
Paper Pencil
Steps:
-
Draw a circle about an inch and
one half to two inches tall. Use these directions for all 3 parts
of the assignment.
-
The first part is to do your
first name only. Color in the letters with your pencil
neatly. This is the positive image. Note: For each of the
three parts you are to use as much of the circle's area as
possible.

-
When done with coloring in the
letters you are to do the exact same design but you are to now
color in the background only. This is the negative image.
-
Now you are to do your last
name as in steps 1-3 above.

-
Now you are to do you first
and last name as in steps 1-3 above, and as what flanks the
header above.
Note
that in the combined name that flanks the header the "S" does not
appear to fit with the last name very well. The top of the M,
Y, E, and R are aligned whereas the top of the S is out of
alignment. Maybe the image below is "better". That
brings up the valid issue of "When is a design truly finished?".
Often you will need to "finish" a design many times before you are
really "done". Writers do this with their stories and poems,
musicians do this with songs and so artists do this with their
works. Go ahead and become "professional" in your heart
and attitude now, don't wait until later!
