In your new groups, nominate a member to be the recorder. Save a new Word document to the recorder's P: folder as p#_username_companies. Start by making a proper MLA heading and page number (use all team member names). The title is "[Team Name] Stock Market Game Companies".

The recorder should list the 10 technology-based companies in which you will buy stock. We will use CNN/Money to track the stock prices. The recorder should list the group member names and the 10 companies in Word. Along with the company name, also list the company's sector (example: Cable) and symbol (example: Amazon=AMZN). You may visit the websites of unfamiliar companies to see what they do, or click on the "Snapshot" tab in CNN/Money to learn more. The recorder should save this document as p#_username_companies and drag it to the "Hand In" Folder in the T: drive.

Some things to think about:
  • Use the graphs on each company profile. Do you see a trend in the stock price? In general, is it on its way up, or down?
  • Does your group want to diversify is a broad range of sectors, or load up on one area that seems to be doing well?
  • Keep in mind, this is a fun class assignment, not a reflection of how smart investors buy stocks.
