Checking Your Stocks for the First Time
You will use CNN/MONEY to check the new price for your stocks. Enter the symbol for each company at the top of the CNN/Money page where it says "Enter Symbol". You will then multiply the new share price by the original amount of shares your group purchased. Finally, you will calculate the percentage change from the original stock price to today. We will repeat this pattern everyday, using the next 3 open columns. For example, today we will use F, G and H. Tomorrow we will use I, J and K.
  1. In column "F" (Share Price), enter the new stock price for all of your companies from CNN/MONEY. Don't forget to format the column for currency if you haven't already done so .
  2. In cell G3 (Check 1) enter the formula =F3*D3. Autofill down to G12 so you don't have to retype the formula. This should multiply the new price by the number of shares you purchased.
  3. Type the word "Total" in cell F13. Bold this cell.
  4. In cell G13, enter the formula =sum(G3:G12)
  5. In G1, enter today's date.
  6. In H3, enter the formula =(G3-E3)/E3 . Autofill down to cell H13.
  7. Click on the column header "H". Right click, go to "Format Cells" and select "Percentage".
  8. Column H should display the percentage increase or decrease from the total investment you made. Cell H13 indicates your overall percentage increase or decrease.
Cell H13 indicates your overall percentage increase or decrease.
