     Teachers need a common language and framework from which to work, negotiate, and ultimately judge the effectiveness and goals of the profession. As I am an Ontario native, and took my education degree in the province as well, I have chosen to structure this portfolio along the lines suggested in the Standards of Practice for the Teaching Profession document published by that province's College of Teachers. The document, however, is of sufficient breadth and depth to allow for its use in various countries and locals.
