Zack and Max went to Portland to help Tinga get away from
Lydecker and his goons. Later on Max saw a missing person's ad for Tinga on a
milk carton, discovering that she was an aunt. She called Tinga's husband, Charlie,
and told him to stop looking for Tinga and get their son out of Portland. He didn't
believe her so she went to Portland to get them herself. She ran into Tinga, who
had come back for them as well.
Lydecker has beaten them there and was posing as Case's new tutor. He was testing to see if Case had received any of Tinga's transgenic abilities. Unfortunately, he had. Zack showed up to help with the rescue.
They all spent the night at Logan's and Case developed a fever. A barcode appeared on the back of Case's neck, but Max saw that it was fourteen digits instead of twelve. Logan traced the phone number, scrambled the signal, and Max called Lydecker. He said he would give them the antidote if Tinga turned herself in. Lydecker had been reporting to the new Manticore Director, Renfro (played by Nana Visitor), and told her they could create more kids like Case because Tinga's DNA allowed her to pass on transgenic traits. However, Renfro had her own plans.
Tinga agreed to turn herself in and Lydecker gave them the antidote. Unknown to Lydecker, Renfro had ordered Brin to capture Case too. Zack showed up in the nick of time to help Max rescue Case. Tinga was knocked out by Brin and taken to a secret facility where she was experimented on. Zack refused to let them turn Tinga like they did Brin. He tracked her down and he and Max went to rescue her. Max got inside the facility first and found Tinga dead inside a tank. She smashed the glass and just sat there holding Tinga and crying, oblivious to everything else around her, including Lydecker closing in on her.
