The night of the escape, Jace was too scared to escape and
stayed behind. Max ran into Jace while tailing Logan. After Logan and a woman left
the building they were in, Max went in to check things out. It turns out the woman
was a doctor. The doctor came in to turn off the coffee pot and, hearinga gun cock,
Max got the woman out of the way. In the alley Max saw that the shooter was Jace.
Max took a good look at the doctor and had a flashback from Manticore. It turns out that this woman, Dr. Vertes, was part of the Manticore brain trust and Manticore wanted her dead. Since she was helping Logan, Max agreed to protect her. Max ran into Jace when she came to finish the job. As they began to fight, Jace passed out. Dr. Vertes examined her and told Max Jace was pregnant.
Vertes called Lydecker and bartered Jace's return for her life. Lydecker agreed, then double crossed her once she took him to Jace.
Jace was forces to contact Max but used Morse code to warn her it was a trap. They evaded Lydecker and rode off on Max's motorcycle. Logan got Jace all the paperwork she'd need to start a new life in Mexico. Before she got on a bus and left, Jace told Max that boy or girl, she was naming her baby Max.
