Logan was helping Max track down her siblings and he got a tip
that a young man had come through the morgue. He had a barcode on his neck
and had had all his teeth removed. Max saw that the barcode was Ben's and went
to pay her last respects. When she got to the morgue she saw that the man wasn't
Ben. Logan later told her that there were several other victims in various states, all
with the same M.O. Max told him that Ben had killed those people and she would
handle it without Logan's help.
Back at Manticore, Ben, who had an active imagination, made up stories to explain things, such as where soldiers took their siblings when they were caught having a seizure or what the anaomolies in the basement were doing there. According to him, when you were taken away, "they" drained your blood until you were almost dead and then left you for the nomalies, who would keep you as a prisoner of war and eat you slowly, piece by piece. One night their brother Jack had a seizure and the janitor gave him a picture saying, "Pray to her. She'll protect you." The kids didn't know who she was but Jack noticed that her heart was outside her body. The kids also didn't know why they lost their baby teeth, but Ben told them they were supposed to give them to "the Blue Lady" to make her heart stronger; they set up a shrine to her on the roof of their barracks. During one tracking exercise they saw a tattoo on a convict's chest. They'd never seen one before, but it had a dagger through a heart. Since the Blue Lady's heart was outside her body, this guy had to be a nomalie, so they killed him.
Max tracked Ben down before he managed to kill his latest victim. They fought and Max injured Ben's leg. Lydecker was closing in on them and Ben asked her not to let them take him. Seeing his expression Max knew Ben wanted her to kill him. She refused at first but after seeing his scared expression and tears, she snapped his neck.
Logan was worried that Max wouldn't be able to stop Ben so he secretly contacted Lydecker and told him to stop Ben of else. Lydecker sent Logan pictures of the convict Max and her siblings had killed as kids, which made Logan nervous around Max for a while.
