Moonlight Eclipse Last night I watched a total eclipse of the moon, While on the wind I heard a whistled tune, From an ancient chapel on grassy tor, As ghostly monks chanted sacred law, As totality passed the doorway of dimensions stood open, Right words and sacred spells were spoken, As a merry band of warriors we stepped through the gate, And destiny danced with us as we met with fate, We entered a sacred grove of mighty oaks, And met up with the fairy folks, In the centre sat Lliad the elf, Perched on a chest it was none other than his good self, I was mighty pleased to see my old friend, Greeting me through this dimensional bend, He opened his chest for exchange of token, As well wishes and wise words were spoken, Beowulf put in a stone and pulled out a Grail, The call of the quest to the warrior male, Christov put in a gemstone and pulled out a sword, The gift of truth and sacred word, Tree put in a pin and pulled out a wand, All in all we were a magical band, Mystic knights disguised as modern man, This is how our quest first began, Me, I put in a crystal and pulled out a sacred scroll, That contained the ancient records of my soul, Written in secret symbols for me to translate, The mysteries hidden and dictated by fate, I stashed my treasure carefully in my crane bag, Under the watchful eye of the royal white stag, Then Lliad beckoned to us onward bound, As he cocked his ear to a silent sound, He showed us the hidden door in a sacred old oak, That led to the underground world of the fey folk, Down a winding spiral staircase he led the way, Through the cave of the dragons to the court of the Fey, As the guys walked in they caused quite a stir, Some present bended knee and muttered Sir, All were awed by the Knights of the Quest, To each of us was treated as honoured guest, The courtiers parted as we approached the thrones, And I winked at the wizard as he consulted his tomes, He winked back and gave me a smile, So I stopped and chatted with him awhile, And he walked with us to the throne of Oberon, With due courtesy he said my absence was felt while I was gone, Then with all formality gone he swept me off the ground, He picked me up and span me round and round, Greeting exchanged I presented my compadres of the sword, And put in our request for the blessings of his word, As Christov stepped forward and bended knee, The King revealed him as a warrior elf of Oak Tree, And honoured him as a Grail Knight, For his many lifetimes in the service of the light, A mighty light warrior noble and bold, And congratulated him on his adventures the bards told, Next came Tree a fair elvish maiden, Upon her soul the Kings praise was laden, His thanks given for the magick shed woven, As part of the Sea Witches secret coven, And complimented her on her ethics and grace, Then transformed her with gossamer wings and fairy face, And he commanded his minstrels to sing her a song, To express his joy at her return after so long, Then it was the Norsemans turn, He was revealed as a lost acolyte of Herne, He was honoured by all the fair folk, They told him of the tales of his soul they spoke, Lastly of course I presented myself, After quickly transforming to silver haired violet eyed elf, The wanderer known as One Who Was Once Water The Arcadian Rivers holy daughter, I stepped forward to make my request, For the dragon names to aid our holy quest, Then we took our leave and headed to the dragon cave, To use the magical names the fairy king gave, Only telepathy was used, no one spoke, As four of the mighty dragons awoke, Then bareback on leathery-scaled hide, The magnificent dragons took us off for a ride, Upward through the dormant volcanos rim, Flying the heavens with the seraphim, Upwards we flew into the night sky, Soaring with the stars, flying high, Beyond this world we went, Beyond this world, we were sent, Beyond Orions belt to a distant star, On a dragons wing its not very far, There we found a world we once called home, In this very strange reality in which we roam, And encountered souls, who are as we are, Who please to dance from star to star, Then in a blink of an eye the dragons flew us back to earth, As we all enjoyed laughter, merriment and mirth, When the Dragons challenged us to faiths great leap, To be the awakened ones while others sleep, As we re-entered the chapel after saying our goodbyes, I was amazed to find two more Grail knights in disguise, Old friends that had wandered up St Catherines Tor, I wondered what more magic was in store, They too had come to celebrate the moon, With drumming beat and merry tune, By the light of the flames in the brazier, I realized my life was getting crazier.
