Living in Crazy WorldNatureSince i havent had a job yet this summer, I had a lot of free time to spend outside and in the sunshine. The sun feels so good and it makes everything so radiant and alive(literally). I liked to spin in circles and collapse in my yard. I would play with my cats in the grass and write poems about the mysterious works of nature that i witnessed. I would draw and paint and laugh with my better half (my boyfriend.. i havent gone skitzo quite yet). We would stay in the yard and play with the hose because we are too poor for a pool. We would explore the local lands. We went to the overlook and saw how large a small town can be. There were woods we saw that we never even knew existed, so we trekked the paths, following them wherever they might take us. We had binocular cameras that we took pictures of squirrels hopping and distant landmarks. We hiked many different trails, all in the area. Most people don't even know the places we were at existed. We found "secret" places that we go to to relax and read books. Ah, the great outdoors. I've realized how much I love the land and the country. I just love nature. And everyone is looking to destroy what rightfully belongs to the earth. Why must we continually be hungering for more and more clothing stores (the more expensive the better, right?) and steak houses (just to spit on local restaurants) and sports bars and movie theatres? Why can't people enjoy the land like I do? Why don't more people hike the hidden trails of their home turf? I want to do it all! i want to sky dive and bungee jump and rock climb and when i get to the top of that mountain i will scream at the top of my lungs! Why? Because life is worth living! Because nature is beautiful! Because I want to! Because it doesnt matter in nature, there are no special rules and the birds and the bees dont mind what your hair looks like or what brand of jeans you are wearing. And it should always be like that. I'll tell you what, you go to the library and you borrow Walden by Henry David Thoreau. Its wonderful.
Respect your motherAlso, try to avoid the gas guzzling cars that are so popular despite rising gas prices. Smaller cars are cheaper and preserve on gas. Though if you really want to save on gas, just walk there. I learned from a dharma bum (jack kerouac amyone?) i know who travels the area by foot, that walking is good for the soul. If you can walk there, why not walk there? After all, you were born with two feet but no wheels. Even if you have a car, consider walking, especially if the weather is nice. It's good to get out and enjoy the warm sunny weather, and it feels better later (unless you develop some kind of blister, aches or poison ivy.. i learned to avoid anything with three leaves). I guess the main point i'm trying to make is our natural resources won't be around forever, so show some respect and conserve. For peats sake don't litter when there are garbage cans everywhere. And remember reduce, reuse, recycle! It worked in the late 80s early 90s, why doesn't anyone care anymore? It's not like the earth is getting any cleaner or our resources have magically restocked because they saw the shelves were getting empty and didn't want to go out of business. That won't happen. Unless you're tripping on something. Don't be in denial, be in survival! Well now that i officially sound like a tree-hugging weirdo, i'll show you some pictures and pretend it never happened. click on a thumbnail to view the biggie size
