The first day we wanted to get used to the climate and the rock so we decided to go the crag of Muro dell'Asino. It is situated above a small chapel near Laghel (Laghel is the crag opposite the castle rock). The sport climbing guide book "Arco Rock", publisher Versante Sud, states that this crag often becomes overcrowded. During our stay it was a public holiday in many European countries... Most routes in the lower grades (6a and below) are polished and slippery. This takes a while to get used to and in many cases makes the grading a bit off. Moreover, when climbing a route that the guide book puts at something below 6a you should be prepared for anything plus or minus a whole grade step. It quickly became evident that the authors haven't put that much effort into the grading at this level. The left part of the crag is more quiet and offers better climbing. At the end of the day we felt ready for some multipitch sport climbing. That night we ate Katarina's chicken pesto.
