Sailor Venus was the first Sailor Scout (ie, Artemis found her before Luna found Sailor Moon), though she is the last to join the team in the first season. Before she was Sailor Venus, she lived in London and had the identity "Sailor V". Her first appearance was in the episode "Sailor V Makes the Scene". Sailor Venus frees the other Sailor Scouts, who were trapped by Malachite and Zoisite, by firing her Crescent Beam at the two Dark Generals, wounding them (you can actually see blood). By the second season, it is clear that Sailor Venus's attacks consist of elements of love (which makes sense since Venus is the Roman goddess of love), though this is not quite clear in the first season. But even if we don't know what the heck a Crescent Beam is, it still looks cool (just what Sailor Buben and I wanted, a hot chick that shoots lasers).
Of all the Sailor Scouts, Sailor Venus is my (Sailor Loulis) favorite. One of the reasons for this is that she has, in my opinion, an ideal female personality. While some say she's too perky (mood not... you know...), I say there's nothing wrong with always being in a good mood. Perpetually friendly, Mina always shows concern for the emotional well being of others, and she gets along with anyone and everyone. Seldom does she get angry, though she does look rather peeved when she's about to fire off one of those Crescent Beams (see above). It was a little naive of Mina to fall head-over-heels in love with Amara at first sight, but in her defense Amara is very, very good at portraying herself as a handsome boy. As Sailor Venus, her attacks are both original and powerful: beams of light, showers of meteors, and chains of hearts. Sailor Venus even sacrificed herself to save Sailor Moon's life in "Day of Destiny", the final episode of the first season. She has all of the characteristics of a great leader; in fact, Sailor Venus was the leader of the Scouts in the Moon Kingdom. Unfortunately, Sailor Venus only plays a minor role in most episodes; why this is true is beyond my comprehension. After all, it would be logical to give more attention to the character that inspired the cartoon Sailor Moon in the first place. If everyone has a favorite cartoon character that they wish was a real person (and admit it, we all do), mine is definitely Sailor Venus, and yes, it is the hair.
