We have chosen a floorplan that makes the house look like several different buildings that form an old Italian village.
The garage, laundry, and excercise room will be a fully contained building with it's own air conditioning unit and hot water heater. The building is highlighted by arched doors for the cars and a tile filled arch on the front of the building.
Arches will be a recurring theme inside and outside the home. Arched windows, arched openings in the courtyard walls, and arched doorways in side will add some drama.
The main entry portico is a 17 foot stone covered tower that is open on the courtyard side.
The main house will be an L shaped structure with a second story over the great room and master bedroom.
There will be a series of walled courtyards surrounding the home to make use of the great evening weather. The courtyards will be off the dining room, closing off the inner courtyard, the back patio will be walled and a walled courtyard surrounding the master bathroom's garden tub.
The dining room courtyard will also have a fireplace for cool winter evenings.
The trusses were assembled off site and delivered ready to install.
The framing will be a major time consumer for this project. And we are hoping that Bernard and his team keep on schedule.
