Batting Cleanup -
finishing up the framing and rough carpentry work
We broke ground in March and as we enter the first week of September the carpenters are finishing the back patio roof.....only 17 weeks to frame a house.  The owner of the framing company was a LITTLE preoccupied with the building of the new BMX track out by the fairgrounds.  Thanks Bernard.....maybe we should plan on Christmas at YOUR house.

Thank goodness for John the Carpenter.  Jim Kight called him down from the cool climate of the Wyoming mountains to come work on our house and several other projects.  John is absolutely great and a hard worker.  Sharon Dyer tried to steal John before my summer kitchen was finished.....ha!  I won!
This will be great for crawfish boils and autumn parties...
John working on the summer kitchen.  One of my favorite stories building this house was the day John needed a short ladder.  He didn't have one....so he built one out of scrap lumber.
John and Ron discuss the progress......John got the summer kitchen framed in less than 4 hours ....in spite of Ron.
Ron peeking out of the master bath water closet....earlier in the process but I liked this picture.
A shot of the interior stairs.  All interior walls will have insulation to reduce noise and the stairs have insulation underneath to dampen footsteps.
September 6th and the back patio is getting finished.  Gary will be thrilled....he needs to finish the lath and wire work.
Not much wood left.....it's a good sign the carpenters are almost done with the framing and rough carpentry.
