  • We are the proud owners of two highly qualified tournament officials - the only club in South Africa that can boast with this.
  • In South Africa there are two Internationally qualified referees, one in Cape Town and one at our club, Sensei Dave Millar.
  • Denise Millar is a A-class Continental (Zone 6) Tournament co-ordinator.

A Summary of the highlights of Sensei Dave's Karate Career Qualifications

 

  • 1965 - Started karate career with Kempo karate.
  • 1974 - Visited Japan with S.A. And trained and stayed with Master Gogen Yamaguchi (then 10th Dan)
  • 1976 - Graded to Shodan (1st Dan Black Belt) by Sensei Ray Rayn.
  • 1981 - Graded to Nidan (2nd Dan)by Sensei Ray Rayn.
  • 1984 - Graded to Sandan (3rd Dan)by Sensei Ray Rayn.
  • 1985 - Qualified as National Judge (KASA)
  • 1987 - Qualified as National Referee (KASA)
  • 1989 - Graded to Yondan (4th Dan) by Sensei Ray Ryan
  • 1992 - Graded to Yondan in Kobe Osaka Organization by Sensei Tommy Morris.
  • 1992 - 1997 (Every year) Done referee and kata courses with Tommy Morris in Scotland followed by refereeing in the Kobe Osaka World championships where 12 countries took part.
  • 1994 - Reconfirmed as a referee by Sensei R. Otago of Spain.
  • 1996 - Qualified as WKF (World Karate Federation) Judge.
  • 1996 - Participate in World Championships as kumite Judge.
  • 1998 - Referee at Tri Nations Tournament in S. A.(Egypt, New Zealand & S.A.)
  • 1998 - Qualified as A - class Zone 6 Referee and Kata judge.
  • 1998 - Refereed in Zone 6 Championships in Botswana
  • 1999 - Graded to Godan(5th Dan)
  • 1999 - The appointed Referee to represent South Africa in a 2 part series, Tri Nations tournament, in Auckland and Wellington (New Zealand)
  • 1999 - Referee Zone 6 championships in Windhoek.
  • 1999 - S.A. Shukokai Masters champion, Kata & Kumite.
  • 2000 - Qualified as UFAK (All Africa) Kata judge and A-class referee.
  • 2000 - Referee Zone 6 championships in Johannesburg.
  • 2000 - Referee Zone 6 All Africa championships in Pretoria.
  • 2000 - S.A. Shukokai Masters Champion, Kata & Kumite.
  • 2001 - Graded to 6th Dan by Hanshi Takeshi Masuyama.
  • Present - Chief Referee for Kwa-Zulu Natal Karate Ass.
  • Present - Vice Chairman for Karate Association of S.A. Referee's Commission.
  • Present - Referee at all local and a number of national tournaments on an ongoing basis.
  • Present - Gives referee and kata courses country wide.
