What is a gusshuku?

An outdoor training session for black belts, preferably held at the beach.
Normally after training there is an informal picnic/ bar.

We include students of all grades in our gusshuku's. This we found was an important part of building good relations and friendship with our fellow karateka.

Our gusshuku's are normally held at T.O. Strand, which offer the perfect venue for this event.
There are big open spaces under the trees, (In season this is used as a caravan park)with braai facilities and a tuckshop on the premises and they have a long, clean unspoiled beach. An absolute pleasure to train on.

Once a year we have a weekend camp for black belts at the Oribi Gorge Nature conservation camp. The weekend is filled with training, getting to know one another, building morale and having fun.

Year end sees us at Old Mc Donald,s farm. This is a animal feed farm next to a river. The kids run around, play in the playgrounds and feed the animals. Some go for rides on the ponies or tractor and others even go for boat rides on the river. The parents relax and see to the refreshments and food. We also have our prizegiving here on the day.
