Rudder pedals

Here is another thing shamelessly copied from the internet.

Problem:
The rudder pedals in the RV-8 appear to have a geometry problem in that for some people the brakes is engaged whenever the rudder pedal is pushed.

Solution:
A bright fellow RV-er came up with the idea to extend the rudder pedals down a bit. This then allows the activation of the rudder pedals by pushing on the bottom bit of the rudder pedals, forcing the pedals to pull on the brake cylinders rather than push on them accidentally

So, after some studying of the pictures on the website (sorry, I forgot the link) and looking through my scrap bin, I came up with what appears for me a working solution. Even works wearing wooden shoes ;-), I just had to play around a bit till I had the angle correct for my wooden shoes.

Thanks, whoever came up with this idea !!!

Here's both of them, with a close-up below

Sorry, had to tilt the picture a bit to make it look right........oh yeah, the aluminum  brace you see is the place holder for my brake cylinders.

I decided to give anodizing a try, found some links on the web for Do-It-Yourself Anodizing . Came out pretty well, however, I would advise anybody who would like to try this, to practice on some scraps first as the learning curve is a bit steep. Not much to it, just getting the anodizing times right for your power source. The dye used is just fabric dye.

The anodizing makes the pedal surface a lot more wear resistant as well as adding corrosion resistance
