Comments:

Comments: Dear Charles,

Comments: Hi Chun,
It is a strange problem. You mean you can see the other articles on this website, but only not on the guestbook.
Maybe this guestbook is a plugin program, and makes such trouble.
Anyway, please check the "Encoding" (or "Character Set") in your browser.
Open your browser, then do following steps.
If your browser is Netscape Communicator, choose this menu:
"View" --> "Character Set" --> "Traditional Chinese (Big 5)"
If your browser is Microsoft Explorer, choose this menu:
"View" --> "Encoding" --> "Traditional Chinese (Big 5)"

After this setting, you should see the Big5 encoding pages.
If not, you'd better ask your local friends, who is good at computer.
Another solution is: I will make an independent page to show the contents of this guestbook (like the page --> http://www.geocities.com/ruskiosk/guestbook/history_2001.htm).
Please tell me you can see this page (guestbook/history_2001) or not.

Comments: Dear Sveta,

還很困擾在介紹 Uspenskyi的時候,要翻成烏斯邊斯基,還是要翻成聖母升天;

Comments: Dear Chun,

I am really moved that you paid so much attention on "Master & Margarita".
Obviously u like the novel very much. So do I. Although I read the novel in Russian seven years ago, but I still feel the eternal power blinking in my heart now.

Your view on Woland is quite interesting. You help me adding something important to my original artical. One of the key-characters in the novel is Woland, who is DEVIL against GOD. In the 1920's-30's Soviet, Stalin thought he is the God. Meanwhile, no one standed by the "contra" side, but Master and few master-like intelligentzia; they were immediately forced into solitude (eg. Bulgakov) or died mysteriously (eg. Poet Yesyenin).
Woland as the native opponent against the real GOD, actually brought the chaos to Stalin's world in order to test Stalin and his followers. The so-called "God" in Moscow did not pass. Filally, people found the real GOD is not in the Kremlin. The eternal TRUTH came back.
Did Woland bring the justice to innocent Soviet people? -- it is argumentative.
I think, maybe Woland was only jealous of his "brother", Stalin, and tore the Earth Governor's mask down. Because the author, Bulgakov, is the master of satire. Between Woland and Stalin is "paradox in paradox" -- something like that!

Wish your every day is a nice day, keeps sunshine shining, raindrops droping.

Comments: Dear Gnauk,

Read your commentary on Master and Margarita carefully just now. Bulgakov underwent a fierce struggle himself when he wrote the novel. He burnt the manuscripts in fear of the government, and this is why in the book Master burns the manuscripts. The ending drops a hint to what Bulgakov longed for in such a political atmosphere- eternal peace. Perhaps one would feel that Master and Margarita deserve more than that, having known the hardship they had gone through, but this precisely reflects how un-demanding Bulgakov wish was. In a way, the writing of the book might have served as a support to the author's insistence on his own beliefs.
Many would like Woland, Bulgakov's Mephistopheles. This character injects Moscow with a breath of fresh air, and dynamism. He turns things upside down but sometimes one cannot help clapping his hands for his mischief, by turning the wrong system upside down he brings justice to the city and scares those in power.

Today is a nice day, suitable for writing.

Best wishes,

Chun
