OVERVIEW:

The Numerical Fill-In Generator is a program that creates a Fill-In puzzle of random numbers based on one of fifteen puzzle templates. The Fill-In puzzles work on this principle: a crossword puzzle gives the locations of words in the puzzle grid, and the solver must come up with the words; a fill-in puzzle gives the words, and the solver must come up with the word's location in the grid. Fill-In puzzles are considered generally easier, and they don't require a dictionary by the solver's side.

My program has 15 different puzzle templates: 5 small size, 7 normal size, and 3 large size puzzles. The small size puzzles use a 10 x 10 square grid, the normal size puzzles use a 15 x 15 square grid, and the large size puzzles use a 20 x 20 square grid.

It is true that the program is designed so that the solver will work the puzzles on the computer, but there are people who do not like play them on the computer. For this reason, the solver can work the puzzles on paper by printing the puzzles after they have been created. In addition, if the solver was working the puzzle and needs to stop and do something else, the solver can print out the puzzle with his / her current work printed out as well.

• The program contains an brief in-line instruction on playing for quick reference.
• The puzzles can be solved completely by using the mouse alone with the AutoFill feature.
• An Undo feature allows the user to take one step back in solving the puzzle.
• The program allows for the current game to be restarted and new games to be created on the same puzzle screen.
• There are additional difficulty options for those advanced players who want a greater challenge.
• The program's color scheme can be customized to the user's preference and monitor display.
