Research Notes (Husband)
William Roach took over the old homestead when his parents started aging. They lived on the property until they died, as well as William’s uncle Joseph. William was a lumberman and a farmer, growing potatoes and raising silver foxes.
The family was living in a log cabin by the river, and later on built a farm, which was still up in the early 1990s. Around that time, natives owned the building. Since then, it got burnt down. William and Margaret raised 11 children. Five of them emigrated to Washington State, Oregon, Ontario and Massachusetts.
Margaret Harnett took care of her mother-in-law during the last few years of her life. Herself died of sugar diabetes. Her son Leonard rushed to New Brunswick after receiving a telegram saying she was not expected to live. He was able to see her before she died. In the meantine, his own daughter Eileen was very ill with pneumonia. He rushed back home to see her die in his ams hours later.
