Research Notes (Wife)
Before marriage, Tillie Roach left Main River to teach school in Western Canada, in the prairies. She was a strong and resourceful woman.
She lost her first child when he was only four months old. Then came Leo and Rita. Tragically, her husband Joe was killed by a team of horses scared by a passing train near Kent Junction.
When Joe’s sister passed away, Tillie raised her daughter Bertie Roach with her own children. She made it possible by teaching school in Harcourt.
Tillie also married Pat O’Leary and then moved to St John.
