PVR Trivia Contest Challenge:

Welcome to the PVR TRIVIA CONTEST CHALLENGE.

What is "trivia", you may ask? Trivia is something that is inessential, unimportant and/or are inconsequential things - trifles. I like to call them ... small facts that don't make or break your day. Trivia are those useless facts you find or hear sometimes. If you want to find some information that's useless, please enter this contest.

Let's have fun with this Trivia Contest Challenge, o.k.? So, here goes -

There will be 6 questions over the next 6 months for a maximum of 60 points. Point schedule is:

There will be no trophy -- no certificates. Just “Bragging Rights”.

Okay -- here is the FIRST question ... August ... for the PVR Trivia Contest Challenge:

1. Who were the four Richland Center Amateur Radio Operators, names and call signs, who reactivated the Pine Valley Repeater Amateur Radio Club? In what month? What year?

How did you do with the first PVR trivia question? Here is the SECOND question ... September ... in a series of PVR Trivia Contest Challenge questions:

2. Bob tells us that it is illegal to KERCHUNK the repeater. What does KERCHUNKING the repeater mean?

Here is the THIRD question ... October ... in the PVR Trivia Contest. We hope more of you make an effort to find the answer. The answer to the 3rd question can be found in the minutes of PVR meetings. Give it a shot. Have fun:

3. Two PVR radio operators participated in the recent Flu Pandemic exercise. Who were they (include call signs)? One operator was stationed in the EOC ... where was the second? What month and year did this exercise take place?

Now for the FOURTH PVR trivia question ... November ... look in your PVR meeting minutes and roster to find the answer.

4. Net Control operators are always needed for our weekly PVR Sunday evening net. Who volunteered to be Net Control for December? What is his/her call sign?

The FIFTH PVR question ... December ... pertains to a guest who attended one of our regular PVR meetings.

5. At what PVR meeting was Larry Kapp, WT9M a guest?

Ready for the SIXTH (AND FINAL) PVR ... January ... trivia question?

6. Those of you who are HF capable, or soon will be, will begin to make contacts with hams in "0" land. QSL cards from these hams will show a "slashed zero" in their calls. What is the purpose of the "slashed zero?"

Good luck to all.
