Work is progressing on our repeater station relocation project. This should commence the latter part of September, 2007. It will be exciting to have a new antenna at a higher elevation, plus having new repeater radio equipment when we make the move.
The 2m repeater is functional and working well. However, the 440 side is functional but it has occasional quirks.
PVR has been given a golden opportunity by Ron Fruit, Owner/Operator of Radio Station WRCO, to install our antenna on a new 300' tower that he will erect, and to install our repeater radio equipment in the new building on the tower site.
Moving our repeater station from its present location at the edge of a rock quarry (see a photo of the site on the Photographs page), and to install our antenna at/near the 300' level replacing a 60' tower will certainly enhance our communications capability.
New repeater radio equipment is being purchased so that it will be ready to go when the new tower/repeater station is constructed. As stated, this will happen sometime in September, 2007.
Bob Naegele - W9MZ, Dick Neumann - W9JR, and Mike Kaufman - WB9SLI, traveled to Baraboo recently to confer with Brad Poynton of POYNTON COMMUNICATIONS to discuss our needs.
The Tower Relocation project is presently open to anyone who is interested and who would like to help when the time arives.
New repeater radio equipment will be installed at the new site. As our current repeater has "quirks", new equipment should prevent this.
We would like to thank Ron Fruit, Owner/Operator of Radio Station WRCO, for his outstanding donation to our project.
