Gaillardia

Botanical Name:   Gaillardia aristata

Native to North America. It is an Perennial (permanent) plant which can be grown in Ground or in Pots. It is a member of sunflower family. It was named after M. Gaillard de Charentonneau, an 18th-century French magistrate who was a patron of botany.
Seeding time: Seeding time starts from January after frost and lasts up to September.
Flowering time: Flower starts from February end and lasts upto November.
Propagation: Gaillardia is grown from seeds, which can be directly sown into Pots or ground. Sow seeds and cover lightly with soil. Space four to six inches apart.
Care: Gaillardia is very easy to grow and being a perennial it relieves one from yearly propagation. It is drought resistant and can be grown on any type of soil. However for bigger flowers it is better to add sufficient fertilizers.
Variety: The flower colors are red, yellow and orange, but the most common is one with mixture of red and yellow. It is available is single and double both.

Gaillardia is Deer resistant also. So, you can plant outside your house without worrying for Cows etc !
