Yoga in the Isle of Nature Our Mission | Our Teacher
| Our
Partners | Our Volunteer Work Our Our Teacher I love yoga, I love how it
makes me feel, how it teaches me to focus, how it allows me to increase my
sense of balance, my level of fitness and my range of motion no matter what
my age. I have been practicing yoga for over 30 years, and I find it hard to
stop talking about the benefits. I teach a flowing yoga, with
a focus on relaxing into the poses, full body awareness, breathing deeply,
increasing flexibility and enhancing the mind, breath,
body connection. I have made it a goal to have an extensive catalogue of
exercises, poses and variations of poses memorized to keep each class
interesting and different. I encourage each participant to feel the pose from within and adjust their bodies to fine tune alignment and positioning through their inner awareness. I practice the yoga poses right along with you so if in doubt you can glance at me demonstrating the pose. You might see me with my eyes closed feeling the pose from within! Yoga is for all people, I
have taught children from the age of 2 years up, the elderly, (my oldest
student was 95), people in wheelchairs, amputees, the fit and not so fit and
all claim to have benefited from my classes. I have worked with sports teams
and athletes and they have often found, usually to their surprise, that yoga
helped to improve their skills as well as prevent injury when participating
in their sport. Yoga requires no special
equipment and can be done throughout the day, a few exercises at a time, as
needed to maintain energy and strength. Many poses can be done in a chair, or
even in bed. My degree is in Computer
Systems Design and Business Management but when I experienced the benefits of
regular yoga practice I decided to take a yoga teacher training program so I
could share the knowledge and let others enjoy the benefits I had. I am lucky enough ever since to wake up every morning and thank God I am living my dream! Thank you Update: Due to a severe drop
in tourism and the local economy I was unable to continue as a full time yoga
teacher. I still teach yoga classes Monday through Friday and private classes
on the weekends. I do the occasional workshop and starting in 2005 – 6 I will
be scheduling holidays at Local Inns and Guest Houses. I have been teaching 4 and 5 year olds at Pioneer Preparatory School. It is a privilege to work in a school where the focus is the holistic education of children. I teach yoga regularly within my class and occasionally in other classrooms. It really helps the 4 and 5 year olds to slow down and focus. Our Partners In the past we have
contributed yoga classes to: 1. REACH, a day care program for the
elderly. 2. Convent High (students) 3. Orion High (students
and faculty) We
hope to expand on our volunteer efforts in the near future, but we need
funding. Contact us to receive our monthly
