That link is now broken. You can find the timeline on this site in the list
above.

I have uploaded the BCM appendix to the archives directory, clarified the list
of alliances, and added lower rank descriptions for Vanguard Fleet. More to
come.

Recent additions include some proposed names for cities and bases on Venus. If
you have any suggestions, tell me through the 3000ad board.

You can now view Gareth DeSylva's RolePlay Timeline without geocities' ads at:

Looks like someone noticed I do not have a home webpage here LOL, just a file
listing and this little blog. Here's why.

This site is where I store and share my contributions to the 3000AD text-based
RPG. All I produce/need is text and maybe a few images. I keep the content I
produce as plain-text for two reasons: (1) to save me time, otherwise spent
typesetting my work in hypertext source code, and (2) to spare my viewers, and
me, the annoying GeoCities add banner. So the only hypertext content I host is
other people's work - the DeSylva Timeline and the MP handbook. On those pages
you'll see adds in a separate right-hand frame. I really only host images here
to link elsewhere, such as at the 3000AD Forums. And of course individual
images can be viewed without adds.

You may also be wondering how I get this little blog to appear at the end of my
file listing. Well it's actually in a file called README.txt, located here in
my root directory. README is a special filename to most web servers, including
GeoCities, in that it displays the file in whole at the end of its directory
listing and omits the standalone from the list that you see. It's really a
convenient way to have text on my "homepage". :)

Still on the subject of typesetting, you've probably seen in most of my files
that I don't wrap my lines - except here in this little blog. Here's why. If
you've ever copied text that was already line-wrapped to a space that wraps it
even slightly differently, it gives you some partial length lines. This is a
waste of whitespace and correcting it by hand is tedious and unnecessary.
Because I want to be able to conveniently copy my RPG content to other places,
like the 3000AD Forums, I generally don't wrap my lines.

Believe me, I understand how annoying it is to scroll laterally just to view a
line of plaintext. But keep in mind that my rank tables and organigrams, for
example, are quite wide to begin with - so you'd be scrolling from side to side
anyway just to view then properly. So why wrap the rest of the text in those
pages if I'd just have to un-wrap them again by hand to post them elsewhere?

However, this little blog is an exception. Since I don't plan to post it
elsewhere, I wrap it's lines for your viewing pleasure. And your satisfaction
is worth a lot to me, even if I end up reposting this elsewhere.

If you think it would be worth it for me to have an add banner in return for
some sort of hypertext home webpage, maybe like Ben's
(http://gcvsvoboda.webpark.cz/), or if you still think I should wrap every line,
then please let me know, and I'll see what I can do. However, I'm already
producing RPG content slowly enough as it is. Do you really think all that
typesetting overhead is worth slowing my progress?

Thanks for listening,
Quazar
