Dingle, County Kerry County Kerry Dingle Peninsula, County Kerry

The West Coast of Ireland, roughly from Westport, County Mayo down to the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry, is arguably the most beautiful region of the country.   The coastline ranges from smooth sandy beaches to breathtakingly steep cliffs.   If you have only a few days to spend in Ireland, this is the place to go.

It is here in the West that you will hear Irish (Gaelic) spoken almost as often as English.   Not to be missed are the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare.   Other highlights are the beautiful town of Westport known for its traditional pubs and music, the town of Galway famous for its production of Irish sweaters and wool products and the fishing town of Dingle where all the buildings on the main street are painted different colors.

The Ring of Kerry and the Dingle Peninsula are a cyclist's heaven with hundreds of miles of less-traveled roads and beautiful sloping hills all along the coast.   Almost every town has a bicycle rental shop.
