The most convenient way to travel to and from Ireland is on the national airline, Aer Lingus.   The least expensive way to travel to and from Ireland is to fly to London and then catch a connecting flight.
The cheapest flights between London and Ireland or from Ireland to the European mainland are on Ryan Air, a discount airline with amazingly low fares.   The British version of Ryan Air is called Easy Jet.   They also have excellent prices. The best ways to travel within Ireland are by Irish Rail or by renting a car.   The rail system is reliable and economical.   Irish rail gives great senior and student discounts.  Driving can be nerve-wracking at first but becomes easier after a short time on the road.   Just keep repeating to yourself, "Stay to the left, Stay to the left", be sure you reserve a car with an automatic transmission and you will be fine.   I have had good luck with Malone Car Rental. A good all-around source of information is the Irish Tourist Board. |
