One method of gathering poem ideas is to read the poems of other well-known poets to see how they used words. Never do you need to write exactly like the famous poet, how-ever it can be an excellent location to begin your search for poem ideas. Usually great writers also read often. It is a good idea to read a variety of poems to see how different aspects of poetry are used.

This section has the biographies of four well-known poets: Emily Dickinson, Robert Frost, William Blake, and William Shakespeare. There exist many other famous poets in the history of the world, and it would be impossible to list them all here. If you want to visit other sites that may have information on the poet that you are looking for, then please visit our links section by clicking here.

The sources I used to find the information for the biography section are:
· World Book 2000, PC edition. Article titles: "William Blake," "Robert Frost," William Shakespeare," and "Emily Dickinson".
· Harmon, William. The top 500 Poems. "William Blake" (pg. 359), "Emily Dick-inson (pg. 728). Published by Columbia University Press, New York, 1992.
