Protect Your Heart

One the "Net", you learn to protect your heart
Not falling in Love, too quick, is a start
When you first begin, you are so naive
Not knowing that others, just might deceive

Vulnerable to attack, your heart's in danger
Before you know it, the worst can occur
Your heart seized, cuddled, then shattered like glass
Just remember, in time, your pain will pass

This leads you to guard yourself somehow
You must shield your heart and you know this now
There are two possibilities it seems
You can do this, and still search for your dreams

One way, is to not let anyone get near
The other, is to spread around your cheer
By letting no one in, you close Love's gate
By caring for too many, is testing Fate

With no guarantees, in Life or Love, you'll learn
To protect your heart, is your soul concern
Don't give your Love freely or lock it away
Cause you never know when True Love comes your way.
