She's no Guitar Hero, but Ali hit all the right notes to become Picks Princess

She doesn't paint her face like Gene Simmons or jump around with an electric guitar like a member of KISS, but Alicia is ready to Rock and Roll All Nite and party every day after capturing her first Sunday Football Picks crown in dominant fashion. She was right in tune this season with a dazzling 154-74 record that ranks eighth-best of all time. That's quite a high note for the musical teen, whose previous career-best performance ranks 44th on the list.

The Picks clan raised glasses of chocolate milk -- Ali's favorite drink -- in a toast to the Teenage Bird on Sunday afternoon after she won the 2007 title by eight games. She took five of eight disagreements from second-place Trevor, who failed to beat Ali in head-to-head competition for the 12th straight week. Then again, no one enjoyed many victories over the Picks Princess this year because she owned the week's best record half the time.

"I can't believe I'm the champion of the Sunday Football Picks," Ali said. "This is so exciting!"

With no luck in the Picks, several members turned to Guitar Hero III on PlayStation 2 after the annual Picks ceremony, which was hosted by Nickster at the microphone. Nicki also served as the group's Guitar Hero by striking the right chords faster than anyone during classic songs from KISS, Pat Benatar, Poison, Foghat, Guns N' Roses and other rock legends. While Blaine's hand-eye coordination made him somewhat effective on guitar, his dancing left something to be desired, according to Mark.

The old folks should just leave it to the younger generation like they did in this 28th edition of the Sunday Football Picks. The three youngest members -- Ali (15), Trevor (11) and Nicki (15) -- took the top three positions in the standings. So much for experience. The rest of the field had Mark in fourth, QT in fifth, Blaine in sixth and D.J. in seventh. Deej was pushed into the cellar in the final week when her dad got lucky by winning nine of 10 disagreements.

Trevor's strong year came on the heels of a last-place finish in 2006. His turnabout set a Picks record for biggest improvement year-to-year at 22.5 games. Trevor climbed from 123-104 last year to 146-82 this time around -- a massive surge indeed.

While Ali was unstoppable in the 2007 Picks and collected a box of Reese's peanut butter cups as a reward, the New England Patriots were unstoppable in the NFL as they posted the league's first 16-0 record. The drama unfolded Saturday night with the visiting Patriots trailing the New York Giants 28-16 in the second half. Quarterback Tom Brady's 65-yard scoring bomb to Randy Moss in the fourth quarter helped the Patriots squeak out a 38-35 victory. Brady's 50 touchdown passes and Moss's 23 touchdown receptions are NFL records.

But how would Brady and Moss have fared against powerful Ali in the Sunday Football Picks or talented Nicki in Guitar Hero? They should stick to the NFL if their egos know what's good for them.
