I got to know the CASA DE CAPOEIRA MUTAÇÕES towards the end of the summer of 2001 (that is, in late February!). We got along. They accepted my proposal to teach a Reiki workshop in their space. A good place to do it in. What is Reiki? The word translates as “Universal Life Energy” in japanese. The name was given by a certain Mikao Usui who rediscovered this ancient healing technique, possibly of Tibetan origin, at the end of the eighteenth century. There are people who are very sure about what Reiki is. “It’s this, and you must practice it like this, like this, and like this.” “No, it’s that, and you must never do this and this and this.” There are books and magazines to explain everything about Reiki – except that, in most cases, they disagree with one another. How, then, to know? Only by practicing it. You can read all the recipes you want, but that will never put the taste of the cake into your mouth. And in order to practice? To start with, take advantage of the next time you or someone you know is in pain – physical or emotional. Put your two hands on your body or theirs. Let the healing energy flow through your hands. See if you can perceive it.
There’s so much that could be said about Reiki, but nothing is equal to the experience of giving and receiving the energy. In the CASA DE CAPOEIRA MUTAÇÕES you can find at least four Reiki initiates, ready to share their experiences with you. You can ask for a Reiki session if you have any health or personal problem. But if you’re in fine shape, with no problems whatsoever, then Reiki can only make you feel even better. Reiki always has a relaxing effect, it often alleviates or eliminates pains, and sometimes provides suggestions for further improvement.
