Yoga
I got to know this life philosophy some twenty-odd years ago, and since then Ive never stopped practicing, even if its only one asana before going to sleep. My experience has taught me that yoga is integration. For me its the path which allows the physical, the mental, and the spiritual to become united.
Never breathe through your mouth while doing the exercises, breathe in and out only through the nose.
Never force anything or make abrupt movements; the positions are static and not dynamic.
You should relax for at least a minute between each asana.
Dont begin the exercises without first having taken care of your physiological needs.
Be persistent; two months arent enough; the more you practice, the more youll benefit.
Nutrition: fats should be avoided. spicy foods, drugs, etc.
Note: women should not practice yoga during menstruation, according to some; according to others they should merely limit their use of inverted postures. During pregnancy, the different exercises can be modified; if pain occurs, cease the exercise. Two months after giving birth, take up the asanas again gradually.

A few quotations:
YOGA IS A STATE OF SPIRIT.
YOGA IS A WAY OF BEHAVING, PEACEFULY AND EFFICIENTLY, IN DAILY LIFE.
IN YOGA AS IN ALL OTHER ARTS, ITS THROUGH PRACTICE THAT ONE DEVELOPS THE ABILITY TO REACH THE DEPTHS.
YOGA IS, FOR ME, A PRAYER WITH THE BODY
THE PERSON WHO DOMINATES THE THREAD OF THEIR BREATH DOMINATES THE THREADS OF THEIR THOUGHTS.
-Lanza
THE MOST IMPORTANT TRUTHS HAVE BEEN FORGOTTEN BECAUSE OF THEIR SIMPLICITY. THE GREAT TRUTHS ARE SIMPLE BECAUSE THEY APPLY UNIVERSALLY. TRUTH AS SUCH IS ALWAYS SIMPLE ?ECOMPLEXITY ARISES FROM HUMAN IGNORANCE.
-Vivekenanda
DEVELOP THIS YOUR BODY, WHERE LIVE SPEECH, HEARING, AND SIGHT, AND WHERE SPIRIT REIGNS.

Yoga is the true regulator which permits us to balance the human organism and counterbalance the excesses and the different forms of activity in our lives, in order to achieve equilibrium. Yoga does not particularly seek to cure illnesses, but to re-establish physical, then psychosomatic balance. If we wish to benefit as much as possible from the practice of Hatha yoga, it is necessary to respect a specific moral code: remember that malevolence, envy, jealousy, hatred, rancor, and in general, all forms of aggressiveness poison our organism, provoking illnesses and perturbations of every kind. These are the true obstacles to the psychosomatic equilibrium of the human being, such that benevolence and love in the true sense of the terms constitute authentic catalysts that multiply the beneficial effects of yoga. |
